Dr. Doane and his staff have been exactly what I have needed to address my complicated cataract/lens replacement surgery. He was able to offer a solution of an LAL lens replacement to accommodate my eye's intolerance of a lens that was causing halos, rings and glare. I am grateful to him. The fact that he conducted a clinical trial on the LAL lens, just recently, FDA approved, gave me the confidence to move forward on this choice. Because I am not from the Kansas City area, he made sure my surgeries were scheduled to offer me the best available opportunities for actual surgeries and followup appointments. I am grateful to him because of his expertise and willingness to address my issues in a respectful, competent manner, I have only the highest respect for him and his staff!

I've withheld my review until I could judge the whole experience. I chose DVC because numerous friends and neighbors have been here with 100% success over the years. From start to finish I've probably had the dream experience. Step 1. The comprehensive first visit was in depth and any and all questions answered fully. The doctors and staff were extremely attentive and caring. I was a "good" candidate for surgery. I chose the SMILE method. Do plan on a couple of hours for the screening because it's not a short process. I didn't need financing so I can't review that process. However, I did get a discount through my insurance. My impression is that the finance folks are super helpful. Step 2. Getting it done. On the day of the event more eye exams by both the screening doctor (Dr. EuDaly) and then the surgeon(Dr. Doane). The nurses prep you for surgery and you get a calming drug (if you need it). The procedure itself was super quick and the doctor talks you through it as he completes each step. The assistant nurse is very sweet and helpful. I can even provide feed back to the surgeon as he does the procedure to relay comfort level, etc. The procedure was super quick, 6-7 minutes but it doesn't feel like it takes that long in end. you can see the tools, lasers, and feel basic pressures as the surgeon operates. There was zero pain during the process. Kind of neat if you aren't squeamish. They hold you for a bit after the surgery to make sure all is well and you get another post op eye check. By the time I left I was seeing through the fog fairly clearly already. 2 hours after all the fog is cleared I was seeing completely and clearly. They fix you up with all the things you need ahead of time if you pay attention to the DR.'s orders. :) Most people come back the next day for a quick checkup but in my case I was a couple hundred miles away and snowed in. However, they called me and kept track of my post op progress. I had major light sensitivity the first 2 days but after that I was fine. My worst pain was that my eyes felt scratchy and dry for the first week (the provided eye drops took care of that quickly). After that everything started feeling normal again. Step 3. Post op checkups. After the first 2 weeks my left eye was between 20/20 and 20/25 but my right eye was 20/15. The doctor explained that it sometimes takes that second eye s few months to catch up. At the end of the 2 month checkup my left eye had indeed caught up and I was seeing 20/15 in both eyes. I'm about to go for my final post op checkup (1 year post op). However, I don't anticipate anything being an issue as the past 11 months have been stellar with no issues. I highly recommend DVC for your vision needs!

I Cataract Surgery and opted for the Multi-Focal Lens implant. I could not be happier with Dr Doane who I think performed a miracle on my eyes. I have worn Glasses since I was 4 years and now am glasses free..Simply amazing. Dr Doane's staff is outstanding. I wholly recommend him and his team.
