Very expensive. The prices for up every year and they play a game of raising the price then telling you that you can move to another room for a little less. Then they charge you a fee for changing rooms. They play games. Awful.

None of the workers are wearing a mask. Very hostile when asked why she wasn't wearing a mask because she was taking our carts from us while we were moving in.

The customer service in this place is disgusting every time. The gentleman who I assume to be the manager will not help or disclose information unless you know the right question to ask. When getting a unit, we were taken to the basement floor and he tried to give us a unit with a pipe running through it, eating at the space, for the same price as one without. Horrible! The late fees are over $100 a month on a $150 month rental. They will auction your items without notifying you. They will not produce proof that they ever contacted you about the auction. They will not give you an itemized statement of your account. The auctioneer they privately sold to will then contact you and want to know if you want to buy your items back for $1,000+ Edit: The "auctioneer" now wants me to buy back my personal paperwork and children's memory boxes for no less than $2,000. Don't trust this storage. They raised my rates after few months. NOT A SAFE PLACE ! Apparently anyone could enter the building, even if there is actually an access code. Part of my stuff was stolen during the move, and nobody wanted to help me figure out who might have taken it. Really poor customer service. They are NOT polite and very inefficient.
This place is absolutely terrible! ROACHES They are disgusting.. I had a PIPE in the middle of my unit taking up so much space with NO DISCOUNT. ROACHES They charged me 30% every month when LATE, then tell me later it's supposed to b 20%. They give u 3 days to b in time, they don't allow u to make partial payments. On top of everything... I'm finding 2 dead and 1 live ROACH today. My stuff has been in there for over 2 years. U pay these people soooo much money and they treat u like a criminal!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. This place is so unprofessional, over priced and disgusting. I was planning on taking my stuff out of there a month ago as I am pregnant and they raised my rent to $117 per month. When we arrived there to take the stuff out, we opened the unit to observe mouse/rat DROPPINGS ALL OVER my belongings. Use at your own risk, and make sure you are insured. My lock was clipped and a family heirloom was stolen out of my space after only a month of storage. I don't think it holds much monetary value, but the sentimental value is immeasurable. I would go into further detail, but I'd rather save that for the police report.
I had a bad experience with Extra Space Storage as well. For one thing, the storage-access hours are very limited (it is only open until 7pm on weeknights), which is particularly annoying as the place is a bit far out, in Bay Ridge. I signed up for my storage unit online. When I arrived with my stuff to put in storage, I was told that the space I'd reserved was a 5th-floor walk up.
