They lie, cheat, and do not keep the building secured. An absolute nightmare. I would never store anything here again. It was one problem after the next. I rented my unit on a day the office was open but planned on moving in that weekend... when I arrived on Sunday the gate was not working and I had no access to my unit. Not if you want my fingerprints! I took my business elsewhere. Not interested in companies that treat me like a criminal. I made a reservation, in person, several days in advance. Only when we showed up with a truck full of stuff did the manager mention that they would need to have my fingerprints. She invoked the usual BS about how it ensures my safety, and about how after 9/11, you can't be too careful. We have stored things here for many years, largely without a problem. After your first 6 months, they periodically raise rates and have raised our rates several times. I recently went to get a larger unit and the staff required that I provide copies of my homeowners insurance and MY FINGERPRINTS. They refused to rent without my fingerprints and their insurance add-on, so I decided to close out and take my business elsewhere. Extra Space Storage unilaterally cancelled our reserved space not once, but TWICE. We called in before our move date to confirm date/time/space, and both times they told us they had cancelled our reservation. The on-site manager (Steve) insisted we must have cancelled if their system said we cancelled. I am not sure why he felt this was worth arguing. Yes, I am a fan but there would be another star if the new mgr was as friendly and helpful as Hector, the mgr when I first rented, and Juan and the young Asian-American woman (Madison?) often behind the counter. Their smiling faces help make the stress of moving more bearable. The new guy needs to take a page from their book. And why the refusal to allow customers to use the restroom in the main office now? I was told to use the ones in the warehouse on a recent visit-NOT customer-friendly.
