BEWARE of Rent Bait & Switch. I rented 3 units naively thinking they would value my business. After 3 months they raised my rent over 80% which they said was due to operating expense increases. I have worked in commercial real estate and know for a fact that this is absolutely false and am very disappointed with ESS for doing this.

DO NOT RENT HERE! ONLINE RATES ARE BAIT AND SWITCH. Unless you want your rent to double within a few months. The lease allows for unlimited rate increase. Market Rate is impossible to determine. Local office says all rate increases come from Corp office.
I hate using storages and this storge is why. They take advantage of people. The prices are outrageous to begin with and then in one year the cost has risen over $100.00. this last one was $60.00. The manager of this property is rude and uncaring. they are the most expensive storage in the valley it's a ripoff Wendy
AWFUL customer service. Locked out of our storage unit. When we called into see what was going on, no one could explain why. They finally gave us a temporary code and it also did not work. We could not access our storage until and the best they could say is that it must be a "computer" issue and they would put in a help ticket. Don't even consider doing business with this company.
I don't remember at any point in my hour long chat with the manager being told of a rent hike being a common practice. In addition to 'insurance' fees it's just a bit much. Just know, if they realize you're willing to pay for their boxes of air, they will increase the price with no explanation. Bait and switch. It can be deemed for 'maintenance' costs but we all know they're just taking advantage. Word will spread.

The storage unit is easy to access. Also any time I visit the office someone is there to help. The problem I have is that they keep raising the rates. I wish they would keep the rate that we signed up for the unit. They continue to gradual raise the rate and it's better to keep our stuff there and pay the higher cost than to move to a different storage facility.
