I've used 5-6 different storage units in my life and this was by far the best. It's brand new, so that makes a big difference as far as cleanliness, supply of carts, and functionality of elevators and restrooms, but when I arrived the asst manager was in the parking lot with a broom and dustpan sweeping up debris out front. Both she and the manager (who I spoke on the phone with earlier) were very nice to interact with and they left me a welcome kit in my unit. The guy here service and hospitality towards their customers suck. I was doing everything on the phone with a girl and I was missing an information and she said I could call back and pick up where I left off. When I called back I got connected with a guy and basically didn't want to do his job and help me or help connect me back to who I need to speak with. Told me to do it online myself. Even though the girl has already inputted all my info. So I have to start all over again. Some people just hate their jobs

Everything about Extra Space Storage on Florida Ave, NW, Washington, DC, was fine except the extortionate pricing. We rented a 10'x15' unit to hold our household stuff for what we thought would be a year or so, but it unavoidably stretched into 3+ years. They constantly raised our monthly rates every six months until we were finally paying more than double the rent. RENTER BEWARE :: This facility only offers month to month contracts. I entered into an agreement in January 2024. In April 2024 they notified me that the rate would double in 30 days. So I am now paying 2x what was advertised. When I called to share my frustration, I was told that my initial rate was an online special that was 50% off the going rate at the time. The going rate is now 3x what I am paying -- not sure how I am at a lower rate but I guess I'll take it. Want real figures? My initial rate was $26. I now pay $5... read more

I wish I would have read the comments more thoroughly. They doubled our rent after just three months of being with them. They said it is based on the market price each month but you cannot tell me that it suddenly doubled in value. This is criminal. We now have to move all of our stuff out of our unit and find a new place who is not going to throw you a large bill without warning. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

SCAM: After three months, they double the price. $79 to $150. You can call and get lower, but they will drop only to $110. Additionally, the employee on the phone said that they do this every couple months. So, unless you want to keep having your rent, increase every couple months, do not go here. The place is clean and the people were pretty nice but you will just be paying more and more and more until you leave. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. The discounted rate they give you online will only last for 3 months and then they will double your rent to due to "market conditions". This is a lie as when you go onto the website, the discounted rate will still be there for new unsuspecting customers. They do not tell you this upfront and will only send a small unmarked postcard telling you " as a month to month provider, our rates have increased." THERE IS NO OPTION FOR A YEAR LONG CONTRACT. Exploitative practices. Signed contract for a 10' x 13' unit for 159/mo. Rent was increased over 50% at the 4 month mark. Called to ask why, was told they do this to everyone, but they could 'negotiate' to a 20% increase. Also said if it went up again, I could call back to negotiate. Another 6 months passed. Now my rent has gone up nearly 80% (new total rent is nearly 100% higher than when I signed the contract.) They now saw negotiation is not possible.
