I would like to update my review of Fazio, specifically the regarding swing fit. Chris, from the company, explained the situation and it is apparent I jumped the gun with a negative review. The situation was handled perfectly by Chris, who called us the next day to sort things out, offering us free rental clubs to mend the mistake. The clubs were in great condition, and the $100 for three days is the best deal on the island. Swing fit, my father and I commend you! 5/5 stars
First the good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Course layout is good and not too challenging for a 5 handicapper. Greens roll true and sand is of high quality. Now the not so good. No driving range. Warmup area consists of limited flight plastic round "things" that buzz through the air when hit and land about 20 yards out. I would describe the course as tired and in need of updating. Beware, it's a public course that includes players of all skill, playing pace and ediquate levels.
Business response:
Hello, Tim. Thank you for taking the time to review our George Fazio course. We are glad to hear that you liked the roll of the greens and that our staff met your expectations. Guest appreciation is a priority for all of our associates here at Palmetto Dunes. Regarding the driving range, we recognize that our Birdie Ball range does not suit everyone's needs. Often, players warm up at the Jones or Hills practice facilities prior to or after arrival at the Fazio. Again, thank you for playing our Fazio course. We look for... read more
If you don't mind playing a 5 hour round, then play here. Course management was terrible, we were signed up to play with 2 others, but the starter sent us off early. Not a good idea, at one point there were 2 foursomes and us waiting to tee off on a par 3. Course was not in great shape for the price, we knew the greens had been plugged last week, but that was not the issue. Definitely not the course for serious golfers. There are way to many other courses to play on Hilton Head, I would definitely not recommend playing the ... read more
After calling the club house directly we called the main number for all 3 courses. Clearly the course workers knew more about getting players on the course. They charged us $60 to play 18 holes. The main number quoted us $95. I'm guessing that's why the course was fairly open for a Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend. Course was decent for just been aerated a week prior. Once the holes recover the course should be in decent shape for the price. That's if they charge $60 and not $95 that corporate quoted.
This course is part of a trio of championship golf courses in Palmetto Dunes. It's a great course to practice your swing after the Winter hiatus. The staff is very accommodating and courteous. The course is well designed. Womens tee positions are challenging, but not intimidating. George Spinella is a good teaching pro. The pro shop has a good selection of clothing and equipment.
After playing all 3 courses at Palmetto Dunes, this was the least maintained course by far. It is definitely challenging, but doesn't make up for it by being super pretty. Go to Arthur hills instead.
