Hawthorne is a smaller and older residence, but the staff was very friendly and caring. All of the memory care residents were smiling and interacted with each other well. We also liked the fact that the bus driver offers rides to hospital visits for all residents. Since they offer shared bathrooms for memory care residents and we would like my mother to have a private bathroom, we have decided not to pursue this option.

Our friend stayed in the memory care floor of the facility. It was a hurried placement, however the staff was attentive and accommodating. They kindly assisted us through some complicated processes. Our friend was comfortable and able to be active, enjoying walking, and being able to go outside to enjoy the sunshine when desired. The private room with a shared bathroom was perfect. Retrieving medication at the end of my loved one's stay required few returns before we had her correct medication. I also question if she received her daily medication since her acetaminophen was not opened and her Memantine appeared to be at the same level when I dropped her off.Otherwise, I am pleased with the service she (and I) received.

I toured Hawthorne Gardens and loved it, but again, it was a no-go as they did not have the staffing to provide 2-person transfer/assist. The lady there was very apologetic and noted post-covid staffing issues. She went above and beyond, however, and gave me many helpful suggestions that were extremely useful in my search. The lady there really went out of her way to be helpful (which was deeply appreciated given the circumstances and that I needed to find a place ASAP). My Mom due to advancing Dementia moved into Hawthorne Gardens 3 months ago from another outstanding place, (Facility Name Removed). Although the stay at Hawthorne Gardens was brief, the care she got was outstanding. The staff, at the Memory Care Unit, and I know just a few and met only a few, (Names Removed) made those last months so much nicer for my Mom. I toured with Hawthorne Gardens and it was a lovely facility, but too small for my social butterfly mom.

The facility itself is nice and well maintained. Administrative staff was friendly and mostly responsive. Service staff were hit and miss as far as training and proficiency. Food in the dining room was acceptable .... brought to the room .... unacceptable.

It is a really great place to live. Aside of the fact that they seem short staffed and having trouble keeping up on the housekeeping. Our loved one really loves is. All the staff are doing a great job making sure her meds are on time, she is well taken care of, has everything she needs. Only con is the housekeeping issue. They are very responsive when we reach out with any concerns.
