Stray black marks all over printed output I don't want to bother with a detailed description of all the printer's features because it has one overriding flaw. When printing just about anything, a large top portion of the page has black streaks and blobs over it. Completely random. This is a fairly large and heavy item, so any sort of return shipping would be inconvenient and/or expensive. Fail.
Caution: Emits Ozone This is the worst experience with a Brother product. I have used over 5 brother printers over the last 10 years. When we started using this model and printed more than 20 pages or so, it produced a burning smell. I thought it would go away after a couple of weeks, but when it didn't and multiple clients kept asking if something was burning in the office, I had to call Brother Support. After we troubleshoot it they had me take it to a certified repair center. They concluded that the smell was from Ozone g... read more
Dash Replenishment doesn't work Bought the new printer. Spent 3 hours on the phone with support trying to set up the auto toner replacement feature (Dash Replacement.) After three hours on the phone with tech support trying to set up this feature I have given up. Can't spend one more minute on this useless service. If you are printing something with both letter size and legal size it won't automatically do it unless you use Adobe. Wrinkled/creased printing Can't resolve this issue; use two of these. 24 pound paper seems to work a bit better. Brother refuses to address this issue. Next printer, when the drum or toner goes, will NOT be a Brother.
Burning Smell If we print any more than a few pages the printer starts to smell like it is burning. Would not recommend this product.

worked great until it didn't The fuser unit failed in seven months of operation. A new fuser unit costs as much as a new machine so the "old" machine goes to the landfill. I really hope this was only a failure of a part and not a bigger failure of brother.
Printer Never printed I purchased this model to replace the same model printer that I was using so, I didn't attempt to put it in service until my old Brother HL-L6200DW stopped printing. So when I took it out of the box and installed it a message read: "Self Diagnostic. Out of the box, it twice blew my circuit breaker. I set it up. Each time I tried to print a page, it blew the circuit breaker. I have never had a laserjet printer do this. I will return it.
