OUCH BAD PURCHASE This printer has proved to be a disappointment. We typically print 7 groups of invoices at the end of everyday. Each group consists of roughly 32 invoices. This printer consistently fails to print properly. We formerly used an HP 600. We got thrifty (cheap) and bought this printer. Big mistake. Were now reprinting invoices and throwing away misprinted invoices. MONEY down the drain.
Buyer beware I liked this printer when it was new, even though I'd have the occasional creased page when using the duplex function. But at 8000 pages, and with 50% toner left in the original cartridge, I am getting pages spotted with toner in random areas. I took out the cartridge and found toner all over the inside, and the cartridge itself leaks like a sieve. I've seen reviews of off brand toner cartridges that don't do this (apparently many have had problems with the Brother-brand cartridges), so my hope is that I can get... read more
Error Messages and Deceiving Warranty I've had this printer for only 5 months and it has begun to malfunction. I'm constantly getting error messages that stop the printing process. We have to clear and restart to get the printer to work. This happens at least once every time we try to print. I tried to get this fixed by contacting Brother, thinking I would have no issues because this item supposedly has a 1 year manufacturers guarantee (as described in this listing) but they're telling me certain error messages aren't covere... read more
The worst print ever. The worst printer ever. Every sheet of paper is heavily streaked and spotted with black ink. It is absolutely unusable. Waste of money.
Poor print quality The first 30 pages I printed looked great. I've printed a total of 50 pages (or less) on it and all of a sudden, the print quality is terrible. I have reviewed the troubleshooting on common problems on Brother's website and it looks like my printer needs a new drum. The warranty on the drum is 90-days and I've had this printer for 103-days. A new drum cost $120. Why should I spend $120 on a brand new printer. This printer is trash, if I could give it 0-stars I would.

prints with black markings on it it seemed to work for a bit but then started printing horrible. can't send the paperwork out as their is black ink smudged all on the document. research said the fuser isn't working, but I have no idea to fix it. we are left with a piece of junk printer. DO NOT BUY!
Won't exit Sleep mode, draws lots of current prior to printing, dirty printing, poor interface. This printer never exits sleep mode when a print job is sent to it. In order to get it to print I have to power cycle it before or after sending a print job. It causes noticeable voltage droop when it starts printing (lights flicker). All printouts are noisy/smudged. performance As with all the brothers products I have purchased, it hasn't disappointed me. I use these printers in my office. Brother's printers are work horses.
