They indicated the cap needed replacement. They replaced it on the second try as first cap was measured wrong. Then it rained and still leaked. Called and asked for an adjustment or to correct problem, was told they don’t guarantee there work and wasn’t anything more they could do. It appears there wasn’t anything wrong with the cap as no water ever came inside the chimney. I have now called the shingle guy so will see what they have to say.

Business response:

"We appreciate the opportunity to reply and give you a professional perspective from documentation given to you from our CSIA technician. Please review you report and pictures to verify our findings. In regards to your ongoing water leakage by the chimney on the roof, our tech (27 yrs. experience), found a missing rain collar and a concaved top chase pan cover with water puddling on top, and small cracks in your stucco chimney chase. Although water intrusion problems can sometimes be elusive, these were the more obvious flaw... read more

It didn't!

Business response:

"Good Morning [Member Name Removed] . . . We try to respond to all of our customers, and I'm afraid you have us at a loss. Your name and address cannot be found in our customer data base, or our web site inquiries. Since we did not do any service under your name and address, please do give me a call to discuss the confusion and how we as a company let you down. We value our customers, and I'm afraid with the holiday dates there is a mix up with Jack Pixley Sweeps, Inc. and another contact for service you had made. We hope yo... read more

Signed up at State Fair for someone to call and schedule maintenance on our fire place. No one ever called us.

Business response:

"[Member Name Removed], We thank you for stopping by our booth in the Home Improvement building at the Minnesota State Fair and filling out one of our certificates. Unfortunately, at that time, we weren't aware that your home is in Lakeville. We did make a telephone call on September 10th and left a voice message to inform you know that Lakeville is currently out of our service area. If you are still looking for someone to service your fireplace, we would like to direct you to the Chimney Safety Institute of America's websit... read more

Estimator never showed up during a two hour WINDOW they scheduled. Receptionist confirmed I had the correct date and time, 6/25/18 between 10 AM and noon. I called at 12:30 and was told their man is running late, would I like to reschedule. I believe my response was 'F-that, you kept me waiting for two hours, I will not be doing business with you'

Business response:

"Mr. [Member Name Removed] We were scheduled to stop by for a "no charge" repair estimate on a furnace chimney at your house, and as you said, our technician was running late from a job scheduled right before you, a job that took longer than anticipated. We can only say how sorry we were for an inconvenience incurred, as it is not our practice to be late. Let us know if we can help in the future." Read more

unknown

Business response:

"We feel that there has been some confusion with companies, as our technician was hired by [Member name removed] in 2012 after his chimney was repaired by another company. This was after having a chimney fire and that was why his insurance company covered this work. Our findings showed the replacement tile liner that was installed was offset by the smoke chamber where there was also missing mortar that had disintegrated after the repair work that was previously done. We have picture documentation that was taken at the time w... read more

Tried to make us think we needed more work than was needed. Had it checked by others that showed it was not needed.

Business response:

"After reviewing the safety inspection report our CSIA certified technician gave Ms. [member name removed], we are hoping she takes the time to read it through again to see the evidence of our findings and to review the close circuit camera pictures she had received with the report given, explaining all the flaws in her two fireplace flue liners. Our company feels investing in such equipment detects issues that the eye could miss with shading or offsets and can prove invaluable. The brickwork on the chimney itself was actual... read more

The company was not willing to offer us the services we wanted on our chimney. They insisted on us needing to buy extra services. We went with a different company.

Business response:

"We feel that there was a slight communication problem with interpreting an educated recommendation to "insisting" on buying extra services. We should have done a better job of educating our customer during the phone conversation. We offered not only a repair estimate, but an inspection of the internal flue liners of the fireplaces, which is the area of biggest safety concern. Also, as a long standing company that offers quality chimney repairs, we mention that we do not believe in doing tuck pointing for deteriorated brickw... read more

Homeowner beware. They told me my chimney was unsafe and needed to be destroyed. They said I had had a fire, but I did not. They did not do a good job. I paid $250 to have the chimney cleaned, but it was not cleaned properly. The owner was supposed to call me and he never did. Update: Yes, the company did call and refunded half of my money because the technician did not properly clean the Kodiak stove. Ash/creosote residue was left on top of the baffle and no attempt was made to clean the cap. Immediately following the techn... read more

Business response:

"The history behind our service with [member name removed]'s fireplace goes back 30 years when Jack Pixley installed a new flue liner after a chimney fire (the was last time our company serviced this fireplace). The homeowner has an old Kodiak Insert with a partial liner that should transition up through her flue liner. Also, old notes on the repair proposal years ago stated that we do not have control over their burning habits. Our CSIA certified technician with 20 years of experience inspected and cleaned this fireplace. H... read more
