We feel that there has been some confusion with companies, as our technician was hired by [Member name removed] in 2012 after his chimney was repaired by another company. This was after having a chimney fire and that was why his insurance company covered this work. Our findings showed the replacement tile liner that was installed was offset by the smoke chamber where there was also missing mortar that had disintegrated after the repair work that was previously done. The company was not willing to offer us the services we wanted on our chimney. They insisted on us needing to buy extra services. We went with a different company.

We feel that there was a slight communication problem with interpreting an educated recommendation to "insisting" on buying extra services. We should have done a better job of educating our customer during the phone conversation. We offered not only a repair estimate, but an inspection of the internal flue liners of the fireplaces, which is the area of biggest safety concern. Homeowner beware. They told me my chimney was unsafe and needed to be destroyed. They said I had had a fire, but I did not. They did not do a good job. I paid $250 to have the chimney cleaned, but it was not cleaned properly. The owner was supposed to call me and he never did. <br /> <br /> Update: Yes, the company did call and refunded half of my money because the technician did not properly clean the Kodiak stove. The homeowner has an old Kodiak Insert with a partial liner that should transition up through her flue liner. Beware! I wanted an estimate of the exterior brick work on my 25 year <br /> old chimney. The rep from this company insisted on looking in the <br /> chimney with a camera which showed mortar joints loose in my wood <br /> burning chimney liner. He said the chimney is unsafe to use and the <br /> liner needed to be replaced, preferably with a stainless steel insert. I write this review with the caveat that as it was several years ago that they had come out, I cannot remember all of the specific details of my interatction with them but the information contained details my general recollecation of what occurred. We went out to the homeowners home four years ago to clean and inspect all three of his fireplaces at his newly purchased home. As we do with all sales of home, we cleaned and inspected the chimneys to ensure that they could function as intended, remove any debris, or possible animal nesting and feces. We always run a camera so that we can see what the condition of the flue system is to ensure that the fireplace can contain the by-products of combustion (smoke and soot) and is not a fire hazard. Years ago I used this company to clean our chimney and they were just fine. However, I called today to have a cleaning on a different chimney at another house and the cleaning and inspection was quoted at $299 which includes a video inspection. They do not offer just a cleaning for less money; they require an inspection. I made an appointment with another company on Angie's List for $175!

I wouldn't recommend using them. They seemed more concerned with charging me fees than doing honest busioness.
