I toured this facility, and was met with nothing but smiles and people more than willing to answer questions and help. My Mom did move into this facility and loves it. They offer transporation as well as other senior activities. She has been there just a week, but we couldn't be happier with the staff, and the facility. This place has thought of everything including close access to doctors and dentist, as well as an amazing nursing staff and management. My Mom also loves the food! The price is very reasonable compared to oth... read more

it was just okay. I thought the place was a little dreary. A lot of times there was miscommunication between doctors and nurses, nurses and me, me and doctors - it was like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. The nurses themselves were excellent. I didn't have any issue with that.

It was at the bottom of our list after we saw Benton house. There were small rooms, it was depressing, dark, it was clean enough, it was just we had had my mother in a nursing home so we knew what to look for. I just keep thinking about how dark it looked, dark wood, dark floors, and the room was about half the size of what he has at Benton. When we saw it we knew we weren't interested.

We were prepared to NOT like this place, but were bowled over by the wonderful atmosphere. From the admissions director to the staff to the residents themselves (who were so encouraging and affirming and won our father over in no time). He's been there a month now and he is very [removed] still loves the staff, and the food and, because he is happy and safe, so are his children!

Doesn't take Medicaid. Most expensive. Nice. Pay extra for personal laundry.

Before moving in to JKV independent living and investing in long term care, staff were so attentive and full of helpful information and answers to the simplest of questions. Since living there for 3 months, where did all the helpful people go? Maintenance tickets get closed without being worked. Dial a Ride and Maintenance answer the phone with tone. The request to move a piece of furniture or hang a picture on the wall get ignored. I've attempted to get questions answered about the art room, to no avail. Now considering a m... read more

This community is another universe from where was living beforehand. But for "A Place for Mom" recommendation to check-it-out, I would never have conceived that I, financially, would ever been able to live here - because, in this area, the conventional wisdom is that it's very expensive. Turns-out I'm paying less than I was at my previous Senior Independent Living facility (which had degenerated over the more than five years there, to having such disregard for its residents, that it's conduct should, perhaps , be classified a... read more

We recently visited John Knox considering a house or villa. One of our concerns was having flexibility if we did not like living in a retirement community. Some CCRC’s in the Kansas City area have a policy that you get 100% of the entrance fee back if you move out within 6 months. Not John Knox. Their policy is that if you move out during the first year you get 85% of the entrance fee back. But, that 85% does not apply to the second person fee or the garage fee—you get none of that back. John Knox has many different plans: ... read more

Rehab in care center was lacking quality staff & service.. Wouldn't recommend going there anytime. Overpriced for what you get in return. Over rated for sure.
