La la land kind cafe is a cute coffee shop located in the Montrose Collective on westheimer. I went for their grand opening today where all drinks are 50% off. This spot is more of a grab n' go coffee shop unless its a beautiful day when you can enjoy the outdoor seating as there is no seating inside. They specialize in matcha & regular unique iced lattes and their drinks are pretty/insta-worthy. They also have regular and hot lattes as well. I went opening day and am in love with this place already. First off, the cafe is so bright and welcoming and the staff is too. La La Land Kind Cafe is all about spreading kindness and has great social impact (they have programs for foster youth aging out of the system to work to build experience!). It was hard to chose from their awesome menu of drinks but I opted for a Purple Rain Lavender Latte with Oat milk (iced to beat the Houston heat). i took one sip and it burnt my throat for 2 minutes straight. i gave the drink to my friend to see if it was just me, but she had the same reaction as well. it had the same burning sensation as taking a sip from alcohol. so im wondering if any part of my drink was fermented-- which would be really disappointing coming from this known of a company. additionally, there are no seating arrangements inside. this place is not what you'd expect it to be. *picture was after it was thrown out.

After seeing so many TikToks and social media posts about this café, my sister and I felt obligated to try it out and see if the hype was worth it. At this point, I have visited twice, and while I think the place is good, I would not call it great. I recently visited the La La Land location off Westheimer/Montrose and had a very disappointing experience. I typically order extra toppings on my drinks and pay for them, so I expect to receive exactly what I ordered. When I arrived at the time my drink should've been ready, I noticed it was missing the banana cloud I had paid extra for. When I asked how much longer it would take, I was told anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes -- basically that they didn't know. This was my first time at this La La Land location, and it was way under my usual expectation for this cafe. I've only been to the Heights MKT location and will continue to visit that one only. Parking is a bit more challenging, it's typical Houston/Montrose parking. The space is a lot smaller and isn't a good place to study, wfh or hangout with friends. Miserable experience. Ordered on the app at 11:00; indicated the pick up time for the drink would be 11:15. My 16 year old daughter ran in to get it will I sat in the car because parking in the area is poor. Ultimately when she was still in the store 30 minutes after the pick up time, I paid to park and went in. Everything about this place is bad. The quality of the beverage is mediocre, but what makes it not worth it is the fact that you have to wait an hour for a simple latte. I understand a longer wait than usual for a busy morning, but an hour for a latte without any add ins is a little insane. Add that to the atmosphere of a billion teenagers complaining about matcha not being sweet and this place is one of the worst places I have spent any time. Visited on a Sunday to gra a matcha and was a bit disappointed by the flow. As a plus, the drink was amazing. I ordered the Keith Lee matcha. No complaints there. Perfectly balanced and refreshing, and the strawberry was sweet. My issues reside with the overall flow of service. The cashiers were very sweet. However I feel the system itself can be improved.
