I’m really sad to leave this review because my family and I have been coming here since it first opened as The Farmer’s Table years ago. Unfortunately, last night’s experience was bad enough that we won’t be returning. Despite there being no more than four tables occupied (including the patio), service was terrible. Most staff was very rude, impatient, and unprofessional. My party and I felt uncomfortable asking more questions about menu items. Waiter was obviously annoyed and rude to my party. At one point waiter snatched menu from parties members hands and threw menus on side table. Floor was very dirty

We didn’t enjoy our experience here. Restaurant was very loud inside. In addition, both of our meals came out the wrong way. On one of the dishes they used different pasta than was advertised on the menu and never said a word to us, thinking we wouldn’t notice. Then the other dish was made completely incorrect. When we asked for them to prepare the dish the same way as described on the menu, they simply threw it in a pan and recreated the dish, without preparing a brand new dish. Very frustrating honestly. Too loud and bright very poor ambience ? Tables too small and close together, our table was wobbly and we saw a dirty knife on the floor under our table. We waited 10 minutes and decided to leave, we never ordered.
We are nearby residents have dined here on two consecutive Christmas Eves and unfortunately will not do so a 3rd time. We really wanted to give La Pastaia a second chance but they refuse to staff accordingly yet allow a full restaurant of booked tables and prie fixe menu (which ran out of items). Last year we were understanding, the restaurant was brand new so the long wait for food and service could be tolerated. Staff was attentive and service was prompt.Pasta overcooked and had no flavor.
We dined on their first anniversary. I’ve been here before and it was very good, but this time they were too giddy and not providing great service. They were very friendly and very happy when they passed, and they doled out some free champagne. Confirmed reservations had been set up for 4pm. The restaurant's gate was closed. Only person we could find was wait staff member who said no one was there, the cook was not there, people were still not there. The place would open at 4:30pm. So my friend who wanted to go here to celebrate her birthday went to Mission Beach for half and hour. Came back. Restaurant door was open. There was no Host to greet us. Sit where you want.
