Overhyped. Went with high expectations. Presentation was world class, taste was ordinary.
The new room is gorgeous. The attitude of the service personnel was terrific. The best part was the food which was outstanding in every regard
Fantastic restaurant. On the evening of our visit, we experienced a Beautiful atmosphere with delicious food. From the greeting at the door, through the ordering of the food, to the goodbyes at the door, service was generous and accommodating. The food was absolutely a joy to eat. It’s a beautiful restaurant, and I had high hopes. They’re new, so they’re still working out the kinks with service, so I’ll give some grace on that. However, my $50 saffron risotto recommended by the waiter was undercooked, and there was no saffron in it. :( I didn’t send it back because we had a show to go and didn’t have time. Cocktails are overpriced ($21 for a martini) but the Italian wine list is amazing!
Great meal at La Stella! Started with the Carciofi alla Romana (artichoke) appetizer with parmesan sauce. Really good dish. Daily bread was also excellent. But the star was the 2 pasta dishes, the Agnolotti Pizzicati and the Genovese di Mamma were both outstanding! Had the Semifreddo alla Nutella for dessert; a great dish for chocolate lovers. Cocktails were excellent as well. We'll be back!
I was going to be heading over to the Winspear Opera House for a performance of The Pearl Fishers. Literally, directly across the street from the Winspear is La Stella. Securing an early reservation is key to not only enjoy all the the attention to detail in service and cuisine at La Stella, but to not be rushed to make it over to the Winspear. The oxtail pasta was very good. The 10oz strip was ordinary, maybe more balsamic would have helped. The asparagus was tender, but needed a sprinkle of sea salt. But the noise level drove us out before we could try dessert.
