Tried to like Burmese food but it's not very tasty. Upsides were samosas and the tea leaf salad but entrees were too bland and unexciting.
I had made reservations a month prior to our going to this restaurant, for 7pm. When we arrived, about 10 minutes early, we were promptly seated and told that our table was needed by 8 pm as they had two large parties coming in for dinner. I, needless to say, was shocked. I have never been told at any restaurant that a table was needed by a certain time. It did not set a very good tone for the evening. To be honest, very overpriced and overall the food was not really very tasty. The mango shrimp was totally overwhelmed with mango flavor, it was just overbearing, we tried many burmese restaurants, and Rangoon Ruby was great in Burlingame and Palo Alto, but felt this particular one in San Carlos wasn't really up to the standard. The host staff was great, but the server's, were not very attentive, we didn't really like the dish ordered, and he didn't do anything to really listen to us or offer us an alternative. Took my mom here for a birthday lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Food was very good, and service was fast and efficient. Will definitely go back!
This is our 3rd visit to the restaurant. The wait staff is very attentive without being bothersome. We always try to add to our experience by trying new things. The Tea leaf salad is a sure winner.
This was my first visiting Burmese cuisine at Rangoon Ruby. I had Chicken Kebat and it definitely different from what we have in Mediterranean and Greek Restaurant. I loved it. The Tea Leaf Salad is must have. It has tangy flavor of the tea leaf which you would like to have it more often

This is a very new and very chic Burmese restaurant with very attentive and helpful wait staff. I had wanted a truly Burmese food experience so I asked the waiter to help me with the food selections. He was most helpful since there was a very large selection to pick from and I would have trouble on my own.
