This is a very new and very chic Burmese restaurant with very attentive and helpful wait staff. I had wanted a truly Burmese food experience so I asked the waiter to help me with the food selections. He was most helpful since there was a very large selection to pick from and I would have trouble on my own. He suggested the very popular Tea Leaf Salad and a very popular and authentic chicken curry noodle dish. My husband had the Sesame Chicken. We have been here several times and it has been a real treat every time. The food is fresh and full of flavors that are well balanced and pack a punch. Try the Samosas, Tea Leaf Salad and Ruby Shrimp with Coconut Rice on the side. Truly delicious. We've been too stuffed to try the deserts, but I have no doubt they are a hit. Great service, too. We sat outside on a hot evening and enjoyed the people watching.
Very friendly and efficient service. Love the way they serve some dishes by tossing the ingredients together at your table, and explaining each component. Makes me want to try everything on the menu!
I had lunch with 2 friends. We all had tea leaf salad. This was my first time at Rangoon Ruby. I have had tea leaf salad at Burmese restaurants in San Francisco. This was even better which is hard to believe. I will definitely be back. There is now a Rangoon Ruby in Belmont. I plan to check that one out too.
we visited this place for my dad's birthday. The restaurant has a comfy and open feel. The service is attentive but not overbearing. They even brought a small ice cream with a candle for him (a nice touch). The food was delicious and the portion sizes were suitable for our group of five. All of us left feeling full.
This was our 3rd time eating here and each time the food was delicious. The wide variety of flavors and ingredients made the selection of dishes difficult. It was my first time have a young coconut drink - so fresh and cold with that lovely layer of coconut meat for dessert! They were also flexible with our reservations since I called about being late due to traffic.
We have never been disappointed with any of the food choices--and there are many--offered by Rangoon Ruby. Regardless of whether at the San Carlos or Palo Alto sites, the food is consistently tasty and fresh. If you don't have anything else, the Tea Leaf Salad is a must. While the Tea Leaf Salad is a favorite, there isn't a dish--and cumulatively, we've probably had virtually all of the dishes on the menu--that does not exceed the mark.
