Communication is terrible. I've been trying to get someone to return my call regarding.my finance and his care since last Friday. He said there are some great councilors but that's about all he can say good about it. The amount of drugs in there is unreal. I'm not sure what's going on there but they need to get there stuff together really quick.
Tell me that "rehab" isn't just a big shady business with links to big pharma and the criminal justice system when the "CEO's" entire career consists of business development and marketing and they have 75% of more of patients on name brand psych meds and a ton of other generics being prescribed off-label and the COMPANY aka the rehab itself is owned by a "healthcare company" that accepts private and government funded insurance. When the business director tries to violate a patients legal right to publicly voice concerns for their care while a patient at this facility by reporting the post as hate speech that should be a major red flag. You may want to brush up on your patient rights knowledge .
I work in healthcare. I have been a nurse going on 10 years. I am thankful to have a place of employment that is trying to keep it’s staff and clients both safe. I can’t imagine anyone who works in healthcare wouldn’t be doing the same for both employees and clients during this pandemic. This facility is a nightmare! The upper management cares about one thing only...$$$! I witnessed alcoholics and crystal meth addicts be put on methadone and subutext for God's sake! I was discouraged and received no support with my difficult decision not to go on maintenance. Acadia owns meth clinics so they want patients on it. Only a few counselors even care. It was horrible but I was focused and determined not to use.
I just left the Life Center of Galax on the 21st of October and as much as this place sounds like a get-away or even a sensible strategy of recovery, I hate to say it but it isn't at all what they're intending it to be. For one, Galax isn't at all segregated by gender in different wings like they're stating above as "gender specific therapy/group sessions"; there is no adult male or female programs. RecommendedYes and no on the recommendation. It kinda depends on how all serious those in there with you at the time are about their sobriety. I've been there 3 times. First time was awesome. 90 percent of us seemed serious. Councilers we're amazing and caring. 5 years later in 2016, went back. 40 percent of us took it seriously and the counselors we're horrible. Let me tell you about the Life Center in Galax Va. My son tried for days to get into a rehab. He has Medicaid so his options were limited. I have never seen so much effort and positive attitude regarding treatment from my son, ever. My son was not on suboxone or benzos prior to his admission. Within 24 hours my son is arrested for disorderly conduct. The supposed rehab started administering suboxone and benzos to my son immediately upon admission.
