New owners are as bad as previous owners. Woefully understaffed, substandard food and laundry. Owners create an adversarial, backstabbing environment for staff. They lure you in with promises and visual images, decor but actual care and services is poor. Stay away.
Please be VERY careful about sending your loved ones to this facility!!! If I could give it negative stars, I would, and I could not be more sorry that I listened to SBU saying this is a 5 star facility. They charge double per day what any other facility charges and for that your get: a phone system where frustrating is an understatement. They acknowledge there are problems with it but never fix it. I haven't been very happy with the place and the overall service.
My mother is starting to have a little better mobility, the therapy seems good. There have been issues with my mother's clothes going missing and some staff is not being able to give me information about my mother when I ask.
Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation has been terrible. The administration has not done well. In general, the staff has been snippy. The experience has not been great. I have had experiences at other facilities and this is by far worse. When I saw the ratings online I was excited but it has let me down.
I am very frustrated. It is hard to communicate and I am not local. I rely on communication and it is not good at this point. I have left several messages for them.
Please rethink putting your loved one here. The social workers are horrible, they actually act like they are doing you a favor by doing their job. My mother was sent to this facility after a hospitalization for respiratory and physical rehab. Have not seen nor heard from a Dr. in two weeks, despite being available. It took a week before they realized mom had a severe sinus infection, but worst of all it took 2 weeks to get her the right fitting mask for her Bipap machine. It's basically my version of hell. Me and my daughter went to visit him on Friday, we were both terrified. The patients were grabbing at us and yelling at us.
