Dr. Jaycox is one of the most intelligent, caring doctors I have ever seen.
Dr. Jaycox and his team are, initially, very intense, but in a good way. After literally years of pain, battling serious autoimmune disorders, etc. I finally felt listened to, and given the HIGHEST level of treatment available. It felt world class in every aspect from decision making, description of procedures, plan of care. While some may feel as though having a team of residents in tow to be invasive, my husband and I felt as though the group thinking only inhanced the dynamic of care.
I received multiple steroid injections in my back with no relief. I later learned these injections are used off-label, which I wasn't informed of beforehand. I was offered a spinal cord stimulator which I turned down since I did not want the side effects. My primary care doctor recently referred me back to pain management for a new issue. I left multiple messages but never received a call or an appointment. I feel that it is unprofessional to ignore patients especially when they are referred by other physicians.
I've given up. I've never done a review before as they ask if things didn't go well to talk to them about it. I've been doing that for several years and it's just getting worse. He has hired a bunch of Physician Assistants whose job seems to be to encourage patients to schedule additional invasive procedures if the ones they recommended didn't help. I was told this was to free him up to perform higher revenue producing procedures. They have no special training other than an apparent list of if someone is complaining of pain ... read more
They don't answer the phone, return calls, respond to messages left in the patient portal and instead of being seen by the Dr, students see you first but don't accurately and completely convey symptoms or response to procedures so even more ineffective procedures are done. The latest is that they now require a credit card on file or a debit card with direct access to your checking account before they will even check you in to see the Dr yet won't tell you in advance whether a procedure is covered by your insurance or not. Overall he is a great doctor however the mri done in sept went unnoticed . The results were abnormal and no one addressed my concerns . He did write a referral but it turns out it wasn’t correct specialty . Then he didn’t make any “plan” because he wasn’t the original dr to see me . The wait time for return appointment which should be in 2 weeks is over a month away. Still no plan still no real result . The Dr did explain the pain pump very well but again felt like I wasn’t his patient . Very disappointing visit .
Regularly runs behind over one hour. Last week I waited over 2 hours for a scheduled appointment . There was an open revolt in the waiting room with people being re-scheduled after traveling to get in , pay for parking and waiting for over an hour. This is not a one off incident. It is a regular occurrence. Be aware and schedule your day accordingly if you have the patience for this. There is no reason why they can't text or call their patients ahead of time. Unconscionable ! I am a care giver for another patient - this visi... read more
His assistant was more helpful than he was
If you are lucky enough to be his patient. Most of us adore him. He really does everything in his power to treat our pain. The problems I see have to do with the ineptness of RUSH Hospital in general. Refills are impossible to get on time. I have 2 RUSH doctors. Both offices suck at refills. I've seen new patients seeking opioids and being told "no." I hear them yelling from the exam room to the elevator about him being an evil a-hole. Yeah, I suspect it is these people giving 1-star reviews. Jaycox is great. RUSH is the pro... read more
