I had been hearing about this restaurant for years and was excited to finally have an opportunity to go to Mirabelle Tavern for a weekday lunch with my family. I was extremely disappointed with both the food and the service. Although my meal started with a reasonably good salad, the main course, a spinach and mozzarella torte, was tasteless. My son, who works part-time as a personal chef, ordered bass over ratatouille and was extremely disappointed. The fish was overcooked and was topped with what tasted like tomato paste ou... read more
Was seated in loud corner of mostly empty room. Hot food was dried out and cold. Omelettes very greasy. There were no muffins as advertised. We often couldn't our find server when needed. We were very disappointed. Also, was a snowy day and steps in front of building were not cleared off.
I made a 3:30 reservation (December 19) for my friend and I. The restaurant looked beautiful and was actually empty. Our waiter told us to choose any table. We enjoyed our meal and were finishing our wine when dessert arrived. The waiter then brought the check and said the table was reserved and we had five minutes left to use it. I was shocked and embarrassed. I chose Mirabelle because it is supposed to be so elegant and I never dreamed we would be treated in such a way. We were dumbfounded. We asked another waiter if he co... read more
We selected the restaurant for our annual Christmas dinner with friends. The menu was very limited and the food was OK. We never realized that during the week, they only serve in the Grill Room which is nice, but not special. We would not go back.
Mirabelle Tavern is definitely neither the old Mirabelle in St. James nor the Mirabelle restaurant next door. The service was haphazard and mediocre at best (at one point we had to ask for silverware), the noise level was loud and the ambiance was non-existent. The food was OK but not inexpensive ($34 prix fixe menu with many possible supplemental charges, and the wine was significantly over priced) yet some of the other diners were poorly dressed even by Long Island's casual standards. I would not recommend this restaurant ... read more
Disappointing dinner. Salad greens were overdressed and not as crisp as they should be. Salmon was tasty and cooked properly. However, the lamb chops were overcooked. Bread service is very chintzy. a young man came to the table with a basket containing just the right number of slices to give each person one piece of bread. He didn't come back until we asked.
I made a reservation through Open Table for brunch today at 1PM. The brunch was a disappointment. There were no "two roasts carved to order". There were no "homemade baked muffins". The buffet assortment was picked clean and for $31.95 a person that is not a good thing. The omelette station was manned by a college student; not a chef. This is the second time we have eaten in the tavern; the last being an early dinner with friends. Both times we have walked away unhappy. You need to provide a service that The Three Village In... read more
The location is perfect. For some reason, the restaurant accepted my 9:45am reservation. When we got there. The waitress greeted me with "I guess I won't kick you out." They offered a limited buffet breakfast until 10, and then began brunch at 11am. We drank coffee in tiny cups for an hour and then had the brunch - but it was a very odd experience.
Brought out the wrong order and said oh it had been changed by the kitchen
