Everything went smooth until the day of closing. We didn't have final numbers, we weren't told we would need to get a cashiers check or wire money that day, and then wiring instructions weren't given until 3 hours before wire cut off time. We were originally scheduled to close the day before so all of this should have been done in plenty of time instead of stressing the day of.

Serious issues towards close of the mortgage that were not addressed or planned for. I had to become personally involved to ensure that everything was completed by closing so we could close on time. Many of these tasks could have been completed or at least initiated before it became a last minute scramble in the days before closing. Mutual of Omaha had the best rate and fee structure but it came with some consequences.

The rate I ended up with was not what I saw through the Costco link. Loan officer brushed off the "small" points/fee as negligible or "technically zero" when we first talked on the phone. The refinance process was longer than expected, with a lot of back-and-forth disagreement on why my loan amount kept changing. Ultimately, stating that the Closing department is incompentant, I borrowed more than I needed. After closing, no one could tell me how I can pay my first mortgage online.

Without Joe's determined efforts, I would have quit this process. The delays from Underwriting and their ridiculous requests for more detailed documentation of income were driving me crazy. Five weeks after the original loan had been approved, I had still not been cleared by that department. Tracee was clearly overburdened and could not stay current. I appreciate the effots Joe made to find a solution, but other than Joe, I was very dissatisfied.

The communication between myself and the processor, Tracee was VERY poor. She hung up on me at one crucial point just before closing, because she had another call. The day of closing I reached out via email and phone to assure all was in order and got NO response, very unprofessional and unnerving. In gathering documents, I felt like I was doing some of the work AND being charged for it. I had to pay for 3 rate extensions, none my fault. Joe Luzzi was great, responsive and always courteous.
