Everything on the 8 course tasting menu was good but the nia salad, the scallops with white bean puree and the bread pudding were amazing! They presented us with the perfect amount of food for 2 people and it was worth more than $33. Great experience and I will definitely go back in the future!
We went on a Monday night, so the restaurant was very quiet. The service was excellent. Our server, Walker, had some time, so he was very pleasant and chatted with us. He was also knowledgeable about the food. The food was very, very good. I wouldn't order another martini there, but the wine we selected was wonderful. We would go to Nia again!
My boyfriend and I went to Nia for restaurant week dinner, which included 8 small plate courses. You ordered just one item per course for two people to split which was fine. The food was all very good (meat plate, the nia salad, saganaki, ceviche, chicken croquettes, crispy potatoes, steak with fries, and baklava). Love to take people to dine at this restaurant who haven't been here before. Even if they are unadventurous they will find something to like on this Mediterranean tapas menu. Personally I love the wild mushrooms, diver scallops, lamb loin chops, and pumpkin gnocchi but I could list another 20 items that are just as good. The food was good, however it's nothing like the other resturaunts on Randolph. Also, due the holiday they had a seperate menu that states with parties 6 or more gratuity is included. We were a party of two and were charged gratutiy. Disappointed that they didn't follow their menu and marketing online. For the price we paid for dinner the food and service was a let down.
We visited this terrific restaurant on a Saturday night with a large group, and we were more than satisfied. The large variety of utterly delicious, lovingly prepared food was truly enjoyable, every single course of it. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, the restaurant owner, the waitress and her helper were very friendly, professional and attentive, and it was one of the most satisfying restaurant experience I ever had. Tried the Bird Watcher cocktail and ended up seeking a bottle of Hum Botanical @ Binny's, it was so unique and tasty! Love the small plates.
We got a ton of food for what we paid. However, the scallops were totally sandy. The gnocchi was meh. They forgot to bring our last course until we reminded them, and we ran out of time to eat dessert. The lamb meatballs, the Mia salad, and the cauliflower were delish!
To find a great restaurant at a reasonable price for downtown Chicago that has both good food and ample portions is rare. Nia fits all those qualifications. The $33/person 8 course tapas meal was really good and really filling. We'd go back without a second thought
