Given the large number of Italian restaurants in San Diego from which to choose, I would not recommend Osteria Panevino, but neither would I discourage anyone who chose it since the food itself was good. The problem is with the service and a bit with the price which our group of 4 felt was higher than comparable restaurants. The waitstaff spent too much of their time huddled together making jokes, singing, talking loudly so as to contribute to noise making conversations at tables difficult. We had the special which was lamb shank. It was frozen. We did get the meal comped but very disappointing.
We had an amazing dinner here for my boyfriend's birthday. The waiters were all so nice and they even did a birthday dessert for him. The wine was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back again.
Excellent food, ambiance and service. We couldn’t have asked for more of our pre-theatre dinner. Our server, Mario, was wonderful! Thank you to all for a wonderful experience!
Wonderful staff and we really enjoyed the meal. Thought the portions were a bit small for the cost, but that is not a deal killer. friendly people and a good experience overall. I would go back.
