We had a Sunday lunch at Osteria Panevino before we went to a 2:00 pm play at the San Diego Repertory Theater. I had a gluten free spaghetti carbonara, which was fantastic, and my wife had a salad with tuna - very fresh, seared on the outside and raw on the inside. She said it was excellent. Nice waiters, who were attentive without hovering. A very comfortable setting too. A great meal and we quite enjoyed ourselves.
Great all the way around
We had a wonderful dinner and loved our server! When we arrived, they seated us outside. For some, that is great but it was loud, crowded and noisy. We asked to be moved and our gracious hostess moved us promptly without any hesitation. Once we were inside we had a wonderful dinner with wonderful service loved the menu and delicious food. This was our 3rd visit and we will come back every time we are in San Diego!
The food was amazing! The service was even better. They were accommodating to our requests. I highly recommend this place and will be craving the carbonara until I return!
Standard Italian food, kitschig atmosphere in the way we sometimes romanticize Italy, but is neither accurate nor contemporary. It didn't feel sophisticated or was particularly nice to sit. I can't imagine why I would go there again.
Excellent food excellent service the best in San Diego Downtown
Overall a solid restaurant. We were there for dinner on a Sunday evening at 6:00 pm. The whole Gaslamp area seemed deserted... the restaurant did not start to fill up until around 7:00 pm. We ordered the clam/mussels appetizer, a pasta, two salads (with prawns), and a kids meal. Highlights: 1. the Prawns were really GOOD! For something seemingly simple, hats off to the restaurant for meticulously preparing and grilling each prawn. I will start to make prawns this way from now on. 2. the portion for the kids meal was generous... read more
Get the meat sauce with paperdelle! Best meat sauce ever. Too bad the truffles tasted toxic on the risotto. Never had that experience before with truffles but the meat sauce and paperdelle was so amazing it more than made up for it.
Appetizers were good. But main dishes such as seared tuna were so salty that I had to ask the waiter to take it away. My guests also complained foods were too salty not well prepared.
