Since my last post, I feel compelled to write another review. The conditions of the courts have improved greatly. Not sure if they have gone with another maintenance group or upgraded the old one. Either way, the courts are in much better shape for play.

We visited the Palmetto Dunes pickle ball courts at Hilton head in November 2019 for three days specifically to play and receive instruction. The courts were in great condition, and the options for playing and instruction were many. We were especially impressed with the pros who worked with our group of 10 senior citizens (2.0 to 4.0 levels - some of us compete in tournaments) during the Daily Dose, Round Robin and private clinics. We have been members for many years and the tennis courts have never been as badly maintained. New maintenance crew seems incompetent at best. Moreover, Pickleball is more profitable (and annoying) and expanding, thus getting the lion's share of attention from management (which is sorely lacking).

We've been coming here for 25 years and this is one of the best tennis centers you'll find. Hard to beat the environment in the center of beautiful Palmetto Dunes Resort, surrounded by gorgeous Spanish moss draped oaks and sea pines. Probably 20+ courts, half clay and a half dozen or so now converted to pickleball. Fun and energetic daily tennis programs for all ages and abilities. We enjoy the free drinks, jokes and exhibition ever Monday in season to meet the pros and schedule some seminars. You'll love this place!

Great place to play pickleball on Hilton Head. There is organized round robin play seven mornings a week on 16 dedicated pickleball courts. Pro Mark Anders does a great job of matching up players by level so you end up with 2 hours of continuous play with a variety of different people. (How he remembers everyone's name and skill level I will never know!) NOTE: Make sure to sign up in advance because this past week (Feb) there was a full sign-up with a wait list for each session. PD tennis and pickle ball center never disappoints!! We have come here 2 of the last 3 years over Thanksgiving break and my kids can't wait to play pickle ball. They both play tennis but pickle ball is a great all age sport. My daughter and son both played....and won....with a darling then 88, now 90, years young sweetheart!!! I recently moved to Hilton Head and had been wanting to try Pickleball so I took a beginner clinic with Mark and Andy- I now play several times a week. The round robins are so fun. Mark does a great job of matching up skill levels and everyone has FUN! I'm so glad I took the clinic and encourage others who are thinking about it to do it!

There was a bit of grumbling before our 8:30 pickleball lesson, but we ALL loved it and plan to play some more. Mark was a great teacher, adapting to our family dynamics quickly. Finding an activity for teenagers can be a challenge, and his was fun, active, and a lesson for life!!!
