The only thing I would suggest is communicating ahead so that people can react in time. Our loan came at the time of a heavy volume and it was not in house underwriting because it was a second home; as such it needed more time to close. Not communicating early enough that the loan would not close at a set date created an anxiety on the sellers part and made the extension more difficult. At minimum 3 days before closing, and accounting for Escrow's 8-5 business hours, would have been sufficient.
