First of all the place is absolutely beautiful. I reserved for a table but got a booth. I had a hard time getting in and out of the booth because the material the booth was made out of was clinging to my dress. I managed awkwardly, lol. Anyways, our server was magnificent. I was there celebrating my 62nd birthday. I’m disabled and have celiac. We ordered everything gluten free. Our server and every one else that served us made sure my guests and I had a great time.
I wanted to love this restaurant so much, but the hype is better than reality. First of all it is a beautiful restaurant, with lots of beautiful people. Service was great, attentive and knowledgeable. Bar menu and drink options also very good. Unfortunately we go to restaurants for good food, and there is where SAGO did not meet expectations. Booked a table for new year’s celebration. Food was amazing considering place is a high end bar with great ambiance and service. Highly recommend!
We went here for our anniversary. Let’s start with the positives: We were seated at the bar and our seats were comfortable. The depth of the bar counter was generous and it didn’t feel like you were crammed in a tight space. The bartender who took care of us that evening was Mike/Michael. He was friendly and attentive. Sago is an artfully lit and swanky tapas lounge. The plants add some exotic flare. We had dinner there before going to a concert and it was a great way to start the night. We sat in a booth and it was very comfortable and great for having conversation. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was yummy. Had a great experience; it was a really busy time on Saturday night; with many people waiting, but they honored our Open Table reservation and got us a table very quickly. It’s great for late night dining with some really cool dishes and a fantastic Market Salad. We’ll be back.
Be aware that ‘lounge seating’ -which is the only option for large groups on OpenTable that I could make- is a knee-high table at a weird couch, elevated in a stage-like area. Not ideal for my party. They had a ‘real’ table reserved for 8, but maybe you had to call them directly for that?
Food and atmosphere is so good! Feels like you’re transported to a super cool hotspot in Miami or Bali! What a great asset to Encinitas!
Good food and drinks but on the pricey side. Took a long time to get drinks delivered and staff seemed out of sorts. Overall decent experience, we will give it one more shot. Bar scene is best in Encinitas. Brings much needed variation.
