Three good friends and I visited ELA's on girls weekend getaway to Hilton Head Island last weekend. After researching several places, we decided on ELA's and I am so glad we did! The food was fresh and delicious! Everything we ordered was great! Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu selection (and where each fish came from, mostly local) & wine selection. Found Ela's Grille on Facebook after visiting Hilton Head twice a year for the past five years. Started with a Lemon drop which was really good.. My husband and I often have calamari as an appetizer and Ela's was fabulous down to the wasabi dipping sauce. For dinner I had the scallops over risotto and my husband had the swordfish. My husband and I ate here for our anniversary while in Hilton Head on vacation. Overall, the food tasted good. My husband had the swordfish and says the flavor was excellent. I had the filet mignon and was a little disappointed because for the price, I expected something amazing and it was just mediocre, more similar to a sirloin. We shared a chocolate soufflé and creme brûlée, which were amazing! We asked the server for a wine recommendation and she should have chose something better. The view was excellent! My wife had the scallops which were excellent paired with the risotto. I had the filet mignon which was cook to perfection! The cheesy potatoes topped it all off. A little pricy with $30 plates. The wine however was reasonable, the markup on a bottle was only $10-15.
Good selection, good food and service. Try the crab cakes and scallops over crab risotto.
This restaurant with its gorgeous views has SO MUCH POTENTIAL! Our service was very fair......we waited at least ten minutes for a server to take water/drink orders. Service was SLOW....."appetizer bread and hush puppies (never got the hush puppies)" came right before our main meal was served....When our party of 6 was served, the main courses came out separately, so we all had to wait until the last person was served before we started eating, out of politeness. We loved the view at ELA's and enjoyed sitting on the balcony. Our waitress was lovely, but did not have enough knowledge about the food. The restaurant ran out of bread and a number of us waited for over 30 minutes for it to come out of the oven. Food was somewhat uneven. My appetizer was flavorless (Lobster nachos, which had very little lobster and tasted like a chopped salad with no dressing). Sitting outside at Ela's is about as good as it gets. Your view is the Shelter Cove Marina and it is lovely. Our food was good. Their famous calamari was excellent as always. Raw oysters were rated highly. The disappointment was the Caesar salad. The dressing was very bland and did not taste like a typical Ceasar salad dressing.
