I don't like the quality of my house and the way they built it. It's been a month since I closed on the house, and there are four or five windows and doors that don't work. The stairs are cracked, and the painting was the worst. I can see the wood behind the paint. My friends that have homes from Smith Douglas Homes have the same complaints. No one responded properly.

I have tried numerous times to get the building managers to do what they said they would do. Paint the garage, fix lifting on the roof, our washer leaked bc the back part of the connection wasn’t attached to the back properly, we had to pay $400+ to landscape the whole side they said was ours but didn’t even cut or do anything to it before our closing. So WE had to come out of pocket to do things you all should have done before closing. Everyone else’s grass was cut and nice before closing but not mine? No. That’s honestly u... read more

I understand that the pandemic has caused a lot of delays, but the process for building my home has been very difficult. Even now, I am still trying to communicate to get paperwork such as the certificate of occupancy and the first level supervisor, JH, refuses to return phone calls at the Huntsville location.

Very dissatisfied with the quality of work and attention to detail -- see below for further explanation. I was also surprised and frustrated that there were so many things left incomplete during the "final" walk through - no refrigerator, no screens in windows (and when we asked Zach about the screens, he said "You guys had screens?"), numerous things unpainted, dry wall left on bedroom floor, etc. The home was not cleaned prior to move in as we were told it would be. It felt as if Zach and the team just wanted to get the ho... read more

The site manager and contractor were both kind. However, our backyard has been left mostly unusable. We asked multiple times what grading would be done and were told it would happen. Minor grading was done and an erosion blanket (laid down over trash) was put down. The blanket does nothing. Our yard has already started to erode (which can be seen from the landscaping fence removal). Our fencing company even recommended not putting in a fence because of erosion issues.

I've bought at least twelve new homes and this is the worst by far. The first night at my house, it was flooded. The air conditioning did not work, and no one came the next day. It was almost not livable on the first day. I would never recommend them to anyone. A faucet handle fell off and the water in the toilet splashed out. I had to install new toilets to find out I needed a new connection. There is no way I recommend it. Smith Douglas Homes The house was not well made.
