I wish I could give this negative stars as a review. I had the worst experience of my life. I had never been in a hospital like this before, and never do I EVER want to return to another one like it! And I was only there for 4 days! I was admitted to Sonora on Monday, at 8 in the morning. First, I was left alone in a room with a desk to fill out paperwork. No one stayed to explain what I was signing, and if I had been a flight risk, I could have easily left as the door to the room had been left open as well as the exit to th... read more

First of all, they don't have counselors/doctors. I went in on a Thursday night for detox and self harming and was out Tuesday afternoon. Met with a psychiatrist twice. Never got a chance to express how I was feeling. I mean, if you're in a mental hospital, clearly there's something that needs to be addressed. Secondly, a friend of mine in there was not ready to be discharged, and told them he was still suicidal, and they made him leave. That is not okay. They just pump you full of pills and watch you color coloring pages. S... read more

What a joke. Do not send your kids here. There is zero therapy. Dr.s call in drugs for the kids without even seeing them. It's a free for all with the kids. Your child will be exposed to and hear things from kids with addiction, kids in and out of Juvy and kids with other behavioral disorders. This is not good on their psyche. My daughter was there for 4 days and received 0 treatment. The staff there look like a joke. Even the "PA" looks like she's a possible addict. Can't take anything anyone there says seriously.

I would give this place a zero star if I could. I was brought here from Oro Valley hospital that highly recommend them for depression. I was promised counseling by professionals, but all i got was medicated and group therapy run by other patients. Total waste of time. Save your money and go elsewhere.

My fiancé went here a couple weeks ago for alcohol detox. I would give it a half star if I could. It is actually worse than a prison. No one there communicates! AT ALL!! I was listed on the release of information, actually the ONLY one on it. I was never informed of a patient code. I had to drive over there & stand in the lobby to get ANY information the ENTIRE 5 days he was there, even once I had the appropriate code. If I did get any sort of info, it was always incorrect. Visitation is only 4 times a week for 30 mins. ... read more

Where to begin? I had the unfortunate experience staying at Sonora following a suicide attempt. While some may say this makes me mentally ill, I can assure the reader I suffer from no medically diagnosed psychiatric illness. Before I begin my evaluation of Sonora, let me do say that there were two wonderful employees without whose generous assistance I can assuredly say my nightmare at Sonora would have been untenable. One is a female nurse supervisor and the other is a female social worker (not to be confused with Steph... read more

Do NOT let your child spend a minute in this facility. Our daughter was admitted there because she ran away from a local rehab. The staff there is totally incompetant. Our daughter had all her medication taken away from her. Meds she had been on for 5 years, antidepressants, ADHA meds. The kids there have nothing to do. The staff puts on a Disney movie once a day and that is the extent of any activities. No therapy at all. She said the place is filty, her clothes reflected that, the shower has visible mold. Her shoes were s... read more

The story is so long that I don't know how or where to begin. My son was admitted because he wanted to be evaluated by a psychiatrist for his many mental issues. The experience - every single part of it - was a complete nightmare. I have never experienced such incredible incompetence. It was a complete waste of time. And when the bill comes, we will contest every penny of it. Tucson is in dire need of a GOOD psych hospital. Sonora isn't the answer. I don't know what the answer is, but we'll keep looking, and in the meantime... read more

Hi, I'm Jasmine. I was 16 when I had my first stay here, and I swear it was my last. To say it was horrible, would be an understatement. Every adolescent at some point experiences suicidal thoughts, and expresses them in their own way. I was brought to TMC and then escorted to Hell. AKA Sonora. To begin with, this place had NO separation whatsoever. I was roomed with a young Philopino girl, (who had some serious mental issues) who constantly asked the "RN"s for pencils to stab me. They didn't give them to her, but they als... read more
