I was horrified by some of the things I was told and some of the things I heard and witnessed as a patient at Sonora Behavioral Health. I was there 1 year ago, for 4 days when I was 36 years old. I had been hospitalized 4 years ago at another mental health hospital so I kinda new what to expect, or so I thought. I flipped out mid-panic attack and nearly got arrested on base before landing myself back at Sonora the second time. I remember the RN that told me, "We love it when people relapse; it generates re... read more

She was placed in an adolescent ward that did not separate seriously ill patients who had committed violent acts, from vulnerable adolescents who were experiencing depression. The "psychiatric evaluation" promised consisted of a 10 minute, five question interview after which it was suggested that she go on a drug called Zoloft. After being convinced that this drug could be helpful, I accepted the psychiatrist's ... read more
