My dogs have been patients of South Putnam Animal Hospital since 2004 and think the world of them. The receptionists make it easy to get an appointment, order medicine or get advice from a doctor when you call. When you arrive they greet you warmly and are efficient from start to finish. The doctors are smart, caring and fair. I use Dr. Heiber, she has performed two surgeries on my dog. She also held our hands as we had to put our other dog down. We have been coming to South Putnam Animal Hospital for approximately 15 years for veterinary care for my dogs. The care we have received from Drs. Julie Fixman, Kathi Heiber and Cindy Kosacz has always been top notch. They are all excellent diagnosticians, intelligent and comprehensive practitioners and always take the time to ensure I understand my dog's diagnosis, plan of care and options. Ive been using this vet since moving to Mahopac in 2011. I've probably dealt with every vet at this practice and I've always felt like they cared. We mainly see Dr. Mason who we love. The staff and doctors do follow up phone calls to check on my dog when he's having issues. Most importantly they take their time, listen, and don't rush through the appointment. I highly recommend this practice.

Been coming here for over 20 years. Always a pleasant experience. They take great care of a not too happy to be at the vet cat of ours. Took care of both our past dogs and past cat also. Wonderful staff, friendly environment yet serious about their jobs. Always explained everything to us thoroughly and made sure we understood.

They seemed wonderful until I had an incident with another dog which resulted in another owner insisting she was bit when she wasn't. (Exactly 5 days later) When I called for advice I did not know that this vet office was somehow "connected" to the other owner. Let's just say it was an unexpected, cold and uncaring reception from the front desk. Having your vet office staff never have the vet call back and then suggest dog trainers instead of medical advice was a bummer. It was very upsetting to not get any medical advice re... read more

HORRIBLE experience!!! The vet (Dr. Martimucci) is beyond condescending and unpleasant to be around. I wanted to bring back an ear cleaner (that i didn't even open) because I didn't want to put it in my dogs ear because of some of the ingredients in it. If I won't put it in my ear, i will NOT put it in my dogs ear. It's my fault for not checking the ingredients before buying it, but figured since they recommended it, it was ok. Kirby is an 18 year old neutered orange and white male cat who was diagnosed, by South Putnam Animal Hospital, with diabetes approx 1 & 1/2 years ago. He was brought to South Putnam Animal Hospital September 13, 2011, because he had been vomiting and not eaten for 2 days.
