I had a similar experience to the ones listed before. The company modified and installed five AC unit when I renovated a while back after being brought into the mix by my architect. After about 20 months, four of five AC units were dead. A repairman charged me almost $800 to confirm that they were broken and bring the four units back to their shop. They are completely non-responsive! They don't show up for service when they make an appointment and you can never get anyone on the phone it is outrageous! Somehow they managed to be there and take the call so I could spend thousands on the unit. Now...nowhere to be found. Horrible and offensive.

After using Stanley Ruth for over 40 years we heard there had been a change in ownership. This shows, because they used to be great. They have doubled their prices yet provide nothing above what the other companies do in terms of service and warranty (despite their claims). They charged $236 to simply take the units, yet couldn't provide me a quote at the time. I bought this heating and airconditioning five years ago and it has been a constant hassle and a constant expense to keep it heating in the winter and cooling in the summer and the issues are magnfied by the general incompetence of the people who serivce it on behalf of Stanley Ruth. It often take three or four service calls to get someone in who can fix the problem. Stanley Ruth-- what a joke. Don't let their website mislead you when they say they offer "quality installation" and "rapid and orderly completion." I have been without air conditioning for over a week. It is smack in the middle of the hottest summers we have experienced so far and I am sweating in my studio apartment due to their stupidity. We hired Stanley Ruth to install in-wall air conditioner heater combined units in our apartment on the upper west side. We went with top of the line McQuay temperature control units, and spent over $20,000 on five units, including eqt and installation. It took Stanley Ruth several tries to get them installed and working, and the covers they installed never quite fit right. You have to push the whole metal cover just to get to the control panels.
