my time at sunrise house has been very beneficial and pleasurable .
had a good experience!
detox was successful, all staff were truly wonderful. the food was inedible, and i am not picky, but when you lose your appetite during detox, thats not the kind of food you can stomach. also, the call center gave false information about this facility, its amenities, and what i could bring/what to expect, which made the initial entry into the program traumatic.
I think that the facility can be better organized with the groups and scheduling of staff. Sometimes we would just be waiting for 15+ minutes to have a group start only to find out that the person running the group is late or absent. I also think the staff running the groups can try more to engage the clients with better and more activities. Usually we just get handed a sheet of paper and the staff member talks, which I don't think is a very effective way of running a group--it gets boring and repetitive. On a more positiv... read more
First off, all of the staff are incredible: the TAs, the group facilitators, the case workers, the cleaning staff and ESPECIALLY the nursing staff, who truly go above and beyond (special shoutout to Joelle). These people obviously care, and many of them have been through what you're going through. They really listen and will do whatever they can to help you. It would have been better if the tv was towards the foot of the bed instead of on the side wall. Minor discomfort of the bed. However, overall, the staff was always kind and helpful, and went out of their way to make sure the patients were comfortable too. The cook also went out of her way to provide plenty of good food. They created a community feel to the people who were here being treated, which ALMOST made it hard to leave!
Staff including TAs, Nurses, Dining and House Keeping as well as Discharge are very competent and always there to assist in your recovery. I can't state how important they were for me. In regards to SRH Management. They are a confused bunch and fail to communicate and plan effectively. Their constant schedule changes are problematic to the "Clients" as well as Staff.
