We went to the mansion house branch for valentines 2014, fabulous loved all the food. Went in June 2014 an it was the complete opposite. Defiantly a different chef. Starters were fish cakes, which were served soggy. Crabmeat with cashews, they might as well served suck on salt cubes, it was just salt, could not taste anything else. Mains ordered chicken green curry. The chicken was so overlooked that you could drop it on the floor and it would bounce back and smack u in the face. Mine was steamed sea bass, it was 90% not coo... read more
Lunch here with City Guests would be fine but for a memorable occassion this did not stack up. Poor table seating, poorly taught staff and just such a poor ambeince. Been to the one around the minories and this had much more going for it. This should open at lunch and forget evenings
service was very slow - and they seemed more focused on setting up for lunch the next day rather then serving customers. they brought the wrong side dish (happens - not a problem - they misheard or whatever) but then when pointed out didnt appologise etc; and then when i said "dont bother to replace" (we were in a rush) they made me feel cheap about not wanting a new one! anyway - the food they got right was poor too - lesson learned!
Thai Square, Mansion House - I booked a table for 2 via top table and received the worst table - in the corner, behind a pillar next to a drafty door. We had a set menu which did not transpire to be good value for money - the meat was tough, the prawns sparse and everything was all fairly tepid. Service was ok. The constant rattle of the tube undergound may put some off. I wouldn't recommend this place given the choice avaliable in the area.
The green curry was lovely, although the rice could be fresher! The red curry was a bit too watery and the beef was chewy... So just ate the curry and left the meat. The service was good.
Bit of a mis-match this place. We were there early evening and it was pretty empty. Turned out the early bird deal on their website wasn't on offer and only alternative was the al la carte menu. We decided to stick with it and ordered. The starters were good but the main courses of green or red curry were not so great in my opinion. Watery and oily compared to the usual dish elsewhere. Tasted ok but by far not the best I ever had! Service wasn't great despite us being one of few covers!
Extremely disappointing. Have been to Thai Square (Minories) before and enjoyed but this first visit to Thai Square Mansion House was v. bad experience. Rose wanted not available, only 1 of 3 available (most expensive!). Starters fine. Main course arrived COLD! The replacement ok, king prawn was tough & chewy, duck curry was small portion. Very disappointing for meal which cost £100. No Top Table Deals. A bad dining experience.
