The restaurant should be better than it is. Service was poor, level of English was poor throughout. Food was nice but nothing standout from what we ordered. Cocktails were good, but again relating to the service our waitress has little understanding of the menu and had no idea which was which of the drinks she was delivering. View is nice by the river.
I was not particularly impressed with this. For starters, our waitress(es) did not speak English, and had to ask a colleague to assist, when all I asked for was a bottle of water. We had the most expensive set menu, which was ok, but certainly not worth the cost. There are better Thai restaurants out there. Thai Square is however a fun bar to go to on a Saturday night for a drink or two before you move on elsewhere.
Great setting and a kitchen trying really hard to produce great and interesting Thai food and in the main succeeding. Sadly the overall experience is let down by slow service and a lack of attention to detail. A stained table cloth, wine not being poured regularly and a seeming disinterest in their customers by the front of house staff really make the overall experience disappointing. They need to realise that for over £50 per head we pay for the experience of the evening as much as the food.
I've been here quite a few times - obviously the river location is its big selling point but it seems that nowadays they're using that as an excuse not to bother so much. Last time I went there it wasn't busy and the staff were lined up by our table watching us eat - I had to ask them politely to move. This time it was packed, we had to ask for a drink, ask where our main course was, and rather than ask for a coffee or dessert, ask for the bill and explain why we wouldn't be paying the gratuity.
Very slow service, the restaurant was empty for lunch and we were given a table in a corner, maybe if we had booked directly we would have had a better table. The food was served warm and very very slow in coming- would not go there again
Over rated. Receptionist grunted as we entered and we were squashed into a tiny table. Food unbearably spicy and overpriced. Lacked atmosphere. Rubbish all over toilet floor. For decent Thai food chose Friends at the top of Putney High Street for far better service, value for money and atmosphere. Avoid Thai Square!!
The Thai Square Putney Bridge was very dissapointing. The table was an hour late, we had to ask for menus and £40 was added to our bill that we hadn't ordered. Very dissapointing.
