Went for the £9.95 box with friends for lunch at Thai Square. Very generous and great value. The place was buzzing and the staff were very good.
We were a group of 14 and the service we received was great. We were also able to order a mix of set menus and a la carte despite us being a large group. My husband and I ordered the monk fish curry, a pad thai and black cod... slightly disappointed with all: the amount of monkfish and prawns in the pad thai were lacking and the black cod lacked flavour. We've had great meals at other thai squares previously, so it was a shame this time was not as good.
After reading the reviews I was expecting something amazing. It is not. Although not bad, I'd say it is comparable to many other good Thai restaurants in the UK.
The food was great as usual. I love this place.
I took a friend for dinner as I have been to Thai Square in Islington many times and enjoyed great service, food and ambience. Unfortunately the central location just isn't as good as the one in Angel but I find that is often the case with chains. The food was still good (though again, not quite as good as at the north London one, or the takeaways I have had) but the environment is very different - it is louder, with more blanket bright lighting (rather than dimmed lighting). I make a point to drag my friends here and the food was great as usual. I can't wait to go back again.
Went for the pre-theatre set menu. Good choice, nice food, went for the Massaman lamb shank which was huge and lovely! Sharing starter possibly a little on the small side between 2 people though but then again the main was more than enough on it's own. Exceptional service
Staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was upbeat. There was no music (Thank goodness) We had a linen tablecloth and napkins. We dined on the Top Table fixed price, three course menu. The mixed starters for two were excellent. I chose duck leg as my main course. This came with a type of sticky rice.
