My partner and I came in for a date night, hoping to enjoy a relaxing evening together. This was our second visit—we had enjoyed the food previously, which is why we decided to return. Sadly, this experience left us deeply uncomfortable. Our server, Lea (hopefully this is correct), was aggressive from the start. She reached over us without warning, grabbed things abruptly, and slammed items down with an intensity that felt completely unnecessary. Her tone throughout the evening was sharp and cold. What bothered us most was h... read more

The bill was just shy of $400.00 for 4 people. I eat out nearly daily and fine dine all over Houston. This was one of the worst experiences I have had in YEARS. Clearly I had eaten 2 bites of my meal. I told the waiter the dish was horrible. He then vanished again for 10-15 min. Did not ask if I wanted any thing else? Or any thing. I also ordered the stuffed mushrooms- I love mushrooms… 100% the worst mushrooms I have ever eaten. The toffee pudding was the only high light of the evening followed by the water in a solid secon... read more

My meal was disappointing. I ordered the $56 Iberico Pork and was really excited to try it. Unfortunately, the way it was served kind of ruined the experience. Mine was carved off the bone, cut into strips, then served on a cold plate. When it arrived at my table, the first few bites were hot, juicy and delicious. In less than 5 minutes, it was already starting to get cold and the last few bites were just not enjoyable because it had cooled off so much. I felt rushed eating it and could not take my time to really enjoy the m... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your comments. We apologize that the cut of meat was not explained properly. We cut the meat off of the bone and slice it as if it is not cut properly by the guest, it becomes hard to eat. This is the wagu of pork and is imported from Spain. If not handled correctly it destroys the product. This product is always cooked medium rare to rare if not the fat disintegrates and it will lose all of its flavor. With regard to it being cold we would have gladly quickly seared it again. Kindly, The Chef’s Table

We were going to dine there and due to dress code of business casual we decided not to go, I wear business casual at work and for dinner I can not put in nice sweats, oh well I guess they don't want my money, went to pappacito instead

Business response:

Hello AJ, We do have a dress code in place for our main dining but we would have been more than happy to accommodate you in our bar area where our dress code is more relaxed. At The Chef’s Table we strive to offer a fine dining atmosphere. Our main dining room is a space where guests can come to celebrate milestone moments snd enjoy a fine dining experience. We hope you understand why we apply this dress code in certain areas of our restaurant. Please feel free to join us anytime as we would not turn any guest away when they... read more

We have always been frequent visitors of the chef’s table, but our last two visits have been subpar. At a more recent visit my mouth was watering for the South African Kingsklip. upon ordering it, I discovered that it was not the melt in your mouth fish that I always get as it was tough to eat and when I asked about it, they indicated they had to replace that with cod, because they could not get the fish in, they didn’t tell me that in advance. So last night we went again I thought by now they had their kingsclip fish issue ... read more

Business response:

Carol, Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear you will be leaving us, but thanks to your feedback we are moving our Kingklip dish from our Seafood section to the Out of Africa section (which those proteins are only when available). We will be adding English Fish and Chips where the Kingklip used to be, and also added a Blackened Red Fish topped with Blackened Shrimp. It’s feedback like your’s who help us correct our mistakes. We would love to have you back to try our new seafood dishes and also our other phenomenal optio... read more

The food is good but overpriced for what you get. I got a steak with nothing else. They didn’t give you bread , salad or a vegetable just steak on a plate. I’ve been to fine dining restaurants that at least give you bread. The service was terrible. Since it was my birthday I was so disappointed and won’t go back.

We had our christmas lunch at Chef’s Table today and one of the waitress made a rude comment telling us to leave because they had an evening reservation (even though we were 18 people they wanted us out) and although the food was excellent, the service at the end was terrible. Any chance of returning is gone. We wont be coming back for sure.

My wife came home with leftovers from a lunch meeting. She ordered the ribeye. The steak was only half an inch thick. How disgusting, this restaurant ripping off their customers. You should be ashamed of yourselves. More “worth it” steaks can be had Walmart.

Business response:

Asa, Here at The Chef's Table we hold very high pride in our food quality. We hand cut all of our proteins in house; we specifically order Prime Certified Angus Beef Ribeye to cut for our lunch and dinner steaks. We weigh every cut of meat we serve, also to mention, the lunch 8oz ribeye is our number 1 selling protein for lunch for over 6 months now. We have a 16oz dinner portion which is 1inch thick. We apologize you felt the cut was sub par but we would recommend dining in our restaurant to experience the full cut and qual... read more
