About this business

V.I.P. Mortgage, Inc. wasn’t started as a company, but as an idea. An idea that the mortgage lending process could be simplified. An idea that the dream of homeownership is very much alive and well. And, an idea that the people working on your loan understand what you are going through because they have been there themselves. Founded by Marine veteran Jay Barbour in 2006, V.I.P. Mortgage, Inc. has grown from a single office with two loan officers in Scottsdale, AZ, to over 20 brick and mortar branches (across many states) w... read more

Be prepared for the phone meeting prior to me being on the phone for you to find my file and refresh your memory. Don't wait until the very last second to request items when I have been asking what else is needed. IE insurance info, draw instructions, etc. Don't blame the insurance company for being slow, when you waited until the absolute last second to request the information. Don't wait until the last moment of a loan to close to finally tell me a dollar amount for a draw. The numbers hardly change, why not give me t... read more

Communication was lacking--especially for this being a first time homebuyer experience

More communication through the entire process would be first and foremost. I never felt like a priority, and questions sometimes went weeks or even months unanswered. A lot of information that other people in the process of buying my home expected me to know I did not, because my lender did not tell me. I could only rarely get in touch with anyone that I was given the contact information of, despite calls, voicemails, texts, and emails. The second, about equally important, issue was primarily with required documents. I do ... read more

Better communication with Buyer and Buyers agent. That would have helped a lot and avoid having the buyer feel in the dark and complain to their agent about the lack of communication they had with the lending side. I never heard from you through the transaction. I had to call to find out status. Communication and expectation was not clear. Also client complained to me that your team would ask repeatedly for documents that they had already gave you and that working with you was frustrating.

There was no communication along the process to keep the realtor abreast of any issues or concerns. Very last minute in resolving issues. Should have had the financing prepared for the closing day.

Less excuses, owning your mistakes, don’t patronize. Especially after sending a gift card and thinking that corrects everything and following up with multiple emails saying that customer service is so important to you. If that were true then an apology gift card wouldn’t have to be issued.

Timely communication and being more accessible. I hated having to book an appointment on a calendar to speak with you. I don't think my file was reviewed to ensure timely closing early enough.

Very uncommunicative, had ro wait a couple days before receiving responses. If I wasn’t on top of my own file and knew the loan process it would have been a nightmare. Last minute things were very unknown and I had no communication until I reached my realtor and the Beazer home rep for help. Unprofessional and unorganized.
