Get directionsThe staff seems nice enough to be around, they're friendly. It's very clean. We're getting our money's worth. We have our own caregiver that we use. I don't participate in the activities much but everybody seems to enjoy themselves. My wife goes to writing class and she enjoys that a lot. She used to be an English teacher. She's doing good here. The socialization here is good for her. She's really outgoing and friendly and I'm more or less a hermit. The food is pretty good. I don't eat too much of it myself because I'm prett... read more

By Hyatt, rental. One-time initiation fee; second person fee. Overlooking Monterey bay and del monte forest

Thank you for letting us know about your recent visit to The Park Lane.
This was MY favorite. I think my parents would very much like to live here for many reasons. The woodshop (which my dad could access) would be a big plus for my father. The fact that it is in Monterey and has views of the Del Monte Forest and Monterey bay (at least from common areas, if not from the unit they would be in) is a big plus. The chalets are really almost like being in their own house. The common areas in this community were attractive, very inviting, and were big pluses. The dining room looked very nice and I lik... read more

I think the PARK LANE is heading downhill...only time will tell. Like I have been saying, this place is going downhill and I believe because the top is bleeding off the money from the bottom so the bottom is leaving constantly for higher wages elsewhere...less and less capable people are replacing them. Good luck with that sequence
Business response:
We apologize that this has been your experience with us. Staffing changes are difficult on everyone, and it is our goal to make sure we end up with the best possible team in the end. Our hope is to make positive changes, and that this is a community everyone can feel proud to call home.
Mom was recently transported to Salinas’ hospital because Salinas had a trauma unit. My Mom had fallen down and had some internal bleeding. By 9 AM the next day, the bleeding had stopped (no surgery), and she was cleared for discharge at 12 noon. My Mom called Park Lane and asked for transport. Park Lane refused the request. Google map shows the shortest distance from Park Lane and Salinas’ hospital is 21.3 miles. It was up to Park Lane and the hospital to arrange transportation. Salinas hospital noticed Mom was on Medicare.... read more
Business response:
We offer our condolences over your mother’s passing. This situation was an unhappy series of events that might have been eased with better communication. Unfortunately, we were not notified of a pending discharge until “after hours” when the driver was no longer present. We discussed this at the time with your sibling who was understanding. Again, we are sorry for your loss.
There have been 3 Executive Directors since 2022 and at least that many Executive Chefs. While the building and grounds were obviously luxury at some point, they are not maintained to that level now. They are almost always short staffed. However, the staff they do have are lovely and trying their best. Pacifica Senior Living (parent company) does not pay well so it is hard to hire and keep good employees. Hopefully, that will change soon with the new Executive Director that started in August.

Hi Anonymous, your feedback and high star rating mean a lot to us. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review for our community!
We moved my mom out after one month. It was a terrible experience for her. The staff didn't attend to the memory care residents. There were very confused and agitated people entering her room and it wasn't kept clean. Overall a very upsetting experience
Business response:
We should mention that this family moved their mom out of our community in June 2023. That said, we understand the trauma of a parent transitioning into a memory care unit and therefore always welcome constructive criticism from our families. Because we were open to feedback a year ago, it became clear that a problem existed in our Memory Care leadership. Our current Memory Care Director started in August 2023, and we have since had positive response and amazing support from our families. As a result, almost all of our memor... read more
It’s a paradox. Staff and management are quite friendly. The staff is responsive to requests; management is not. Long-time residents report maintenance problems left unattended to for months or even years. They have grown accustomed to the lack of response. I asked four times for a connection to the free internet but got zero response. The Park Lane holds a monthly Maintenance Chat where residents can speak directly to the Maintenance Director. He promised a fast response (“probably tomorrow”) that never happened. In frustra... read more
