15 years ago I had a wonderful experience on the Fort Bragg Skunk Train. Shame on me for not doing my homework when I booked my Husband and I last week. The slow and short ride barely left town before it stopped & reversed direction with an explanation there was a landslide before we entered the Redwoods. Do yourself a favor - for $7 more drive to Willits and get the 2-hour 5 star experience I remember

Was very disappointed. I would not recommend spending your money on this hour ride.

It was fun, brief and I wish it had been longer.

Nothing exciting or unusual. Conventional diesel locomotive utilized. Only real fun was the small hurd of deer on the tracks leading the train, they finally took off up a steep mountain side, creating a small landslide in doing so. Staff, was great, wonderful narrative of the area. Lots of drinks, snacks and goodies available to purchase. Very child/children friendly, photo ops as well as professionally taken photos by onboard staff available to purchase. Just to brief for us, also expecting a steam driven locomotive. Pricin... read more

VERY DISSAPOINTING, be honest and not charge for the full trip when the train only goes out for thirty minutes and let everyone know that there is no picnic stop.

While I was born and raised almost next door to Skunks route, I never had the chance to climb aboard. If I ever visit California again, that will be at the top of my bucket list of things to do there!

I loved the Skunk train when I was younger! Best memories I have with my grandparents. I am going to book a trip right now, to do with my kids! I didn’t even know it was still running until it showed up in my newsfeed! Thanks Facebook! :)

It's pricey, run poorly, treats us like second class citizens while charging first class. The staff are fine. The management isn't. I would not recommend supporting this tourist attraction when there are many other environmentally sound and nice options in such a beautiful area. There should be a non profit running this not a rude manager. There should be more of a historical context for the train rather that a touristy rip off.

Nice ride but very short. Out of Ft. Brag I remember in past times, going quite a way longer up into the hills where the engine disconnected and moved to the opposite end, then we returned to Ft. Brag. Now they go about 1/2 the distance and push back to the station. LOOKED like there was a slide that has covered the tracks ahead. And the slide looked old... What is the story Skunk Train? Will you ever clear the track and resume the ride up to the old switching area? Next time will go to Willits and take that ride.
