My go-to spot for lunch —I will go out of my way for the veg antipasto!
Trattoria del Arte, is a no level restaurant. Noise level loud due to pre theater crowd. Suggest dining 7:30 Or later. Pizza was light as a feather and delicious, we had it as an appetizer. The risotto was creamy, tasty. Our friends had chicken, veal, liver dishes, all well prepared, delicious.
We were first shown a table for two in a hallway which I rejected. They then brought us upstairs and we sat beneath a window that they use to call or signal each other. There was so much traffic going by our table that it was unpleasant. It was also VERY busy. Yes it was before a concert but that's not unusual for the location. The food was good. Large portions.
Good choice while in the city. Good selection from small plates to full meals. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Both our meals were satisfying.
The meal was delicious and the service was excellent.
The ambience, the service and the wine list are excellent. The menu is somewhat limited and the preparation was fine, just not outstanding.

Two people ordered the grilled veal chop and it came with some kind of sauce on it and having had that before, what they usually order (grilled veal chop ) does not have a sauce on it. Again, non complainers. I know the restaurant would have been happy to get these patrons the right meal. There were si... read more
A friend and I enjoyed dinner before a concert at Carnegie Hall, across the street. Service was enthusiastic, friendly and accommodating to our schedule. Portions were ample. The three antipasti we ordered, as well as the thin-crust pizza, were wonderful, as was my friend's "101-layer" lasagna and my veal piccata. For reasons of both time and over-ordering, we passed on dessert, but will return and leave room at that time! Noise level is very high, even in the more intimately scaled low-ceilinged front upstairs space, and ou... read more
The spaghetti with clams was superb. My husband commented that he was over-fed with the huge lasagna. We adored the artichokes. But what I like most about the Trattoria del Arte is the vivacity of the environment. One feels happy here.
