The Trattoria D'A is now an classic foodie institution in Mid-Town. Don't be fooled by it's location near to a bagel shop on busy 7th Avenue - this is seriously good food in an ecclectic setting. I have been to this restaurant dozens of times, and have never been disappointed. In 2008, I took a client to lunch at the Trattoria, and he has been there on a weekly basis (now with his wife) ever since.
The food was very well prepared. We had the fixed price menu and the price was reasonable for what was served. There was a very large group (probably 18-20 people) seated near us with infants and small children (probably a third to one half of the party) they could have made more noise but did make the visit less than ideal. Another group of diners, understandably, asked to be moved. I think such a group should be put in a room by themselves.
We had a multi-generational small family gathering and this was the perfect location - extensive choice, wonderful service and flavorful food. The lunch prix fixe is a particularly great deal, but the main menu also provided excellent options. It was a very happy experience.
Absolutely Fabulous!!! Food was great, service was great!!! Will definitely go back again when we go to New York!!
We enjoyed a family dinner here. The food was good, not great, and somewhat overpriced for what you got. We had a group of six with a 2-year old, a 7-year old, and an adult who needed a gluten-free meal. Overall, the restaurant was very accommodating, and it was close to where we were staying. You just pay more in Midtown, I guess.
Entrees ok although better experience on previous visit a few months back; restaurant was busy; pre theatre; weather conditions; slowed service.
A favorite for post-theater dining, great crowd, home to the best thin-crust pizzas and the legendary veal parmigiana.
One of our regular stops in our annual visits to New York and we are never disappointed.
My husband and I often eat at the bar at T dell'A. We brought Canadian cousins for dinner, and I have to say while the food was fine, that the service was iffy, with many things hitting the floor around us, and the general sense was that the regular staff were off for summer vacation. I love this place, but please bring back the super staff of fall normality!
