Sony Bravia 75X900e looks great, but requires a solid external 4k source
+ upscaling 1080p video to 4K - excellent
+ Upscaling low quality internet video - excellent
+ Black in contrasty scenes without overexposing nearby visuals (no aberrations introduced by FALD) - excellent
+ Amazing reinterpretation of lossy sourses, but I said that above
? No Dolby Vision, time will tell
- Google TV IS A MESS. It's ok when casting, but a mess with 4K content, skipping frames which the TV can't smooth out. I read others have better results with Ethernet, but I rely on wireless, so... I find Android TV useless for high bandwidth streams.
- In my home, the best image and user experience comes from PS4 Pro and XBox. The smart part of the TV is a total bust. Android skinned to fit in with Sony is a mess.
Picture quality is so much better than my last TV. There is no comparison, but the software is a clunged up mess--not elegant, refined... Stuttering, juddering content, not even able to keep up with simple menu animations. With a solid game system doing the heavy lifting, enhanced by the AMAZING-basics (video enhance) of this TV, it's a winner. Alone, this TV would be disappointing.
Bought late in the build cycle, but others reporting experiences with more expensive units running X1 Super Amazing (or whatever they call it), rather than the lesser version in this TV have the same complaints. X1 had nothing to do with Android integration, which is a mess.
Would I recommend this TV? Yeah, or it's next iteration, the x900f.
