The overall experience was good up to the point right at the end where the closing costs were miscalculated. Victor called us after-hours on the evening before we were to close, realizing that Churchill Mortgage failed to consider that the former owner had 100% exception from property taxes and therefore our closing costs were higher as there was no reimbursement for the taxes for the first half of the year. More clarity regarding the portal and document submission process for both my spouse and myself. It was often unclear who was supposed to sign what and some times requested documents were repetitive. I believe that during the process we had several miscommunications. It might have been because we are first time homebuyers, but I do not believe that enough clear communication were made. For example, we and our realtor were under the understanding that we were under a "fixed" interest rate that was "locked" in for 90 days. Due to our schedules and jobs, gathering necessary information would have been easier on everyone if we had received an itemized list with due dates. Often we received an email or phone call requesting documents for that same day, this was stressful and hard to accomplish. Everything with Victor and Suzanne were great. I was disappointed about the choice of title companies. No one from the title company confirmed the title company's address with me until the morning of the closing until after I asked for it. Second, the closest location was 20 miles from our home, which caused all kinds of logistical issues for a last minute signing. Last the title company entered the incorrect amount (+$50) on the transfer which cause issues with my bank.
