We have had an overall amazing experience at Westhill. The stay is so welcoming and attentive, the activities are great and we love coming to see the live music every week as well!
The do not have enough staffing and therefore things fall through the cracks - it is the biggest issues which really shows in their everyday responsibilities and quality of care. There also is not much stimulation going on. However even though our loved one had dementia the one big thing she always remembers is the food - she says they have really good food.
The staff are very nice but quite honestly there are not enough people employed to properly take care of 30 memory care patients. Our loved one was not getting baths, hair washed, laundry done each week. We are visiting regularly and know from day to day what is taken care of. She went from daily showers at home to one in 8 days the 1st week. She was not refusing them either. We finally went down to nurses station after many days of requests and a very nice tech came down and took her in the bathroom, showered and washed her... read more
They were extremely understaffed when my dad was there. They had one CNA that was assigned to my dad's floor, who couldn't lift because of a bad back. She could not help my dad do anything from getting in and out of bed to dressing, etc. The same CNA left my dad in bed several mornings until he missed breakfast, and the PT or OT showed to get him up and dressed. We moved my mother-in-law out after a few months. Memory care left much to be desired. They got her meds wrong, several times, Not many activities she was bored. Landry lost or clean laundry on floor of closet, I went on early to clean her room while she was eating breakfast to find a man sleeping in her bed. We moved her out. We had high hopes that our dad would receive quality care at Westhill. He has lived there for 3 months and things went from good to bad. The director left a month ago and communication with the "interim" administration is minimal. I finally reached out to the management company after a real scare almost 2 weeks ago, where we almost lost our dad due to some serious issues.
