I have nothing to say but great things about this business. Jason at the front desk has always been SO helpful and accommodating when it comes to my schedule and concerns with my two dogs. His positive and polite attitude always makes me feel more comfortable about bringing in my dog who is extremely afraid of the vet. They do a great job to make sure she is comfortable and they provide fast and efficient care.
Vets are great except.... 40 minutes on hold so far to pick up my dog. This is making me rethink my 15 year allegiance. Answer your phones! Don't leave people in your lot or on hold. This is a joke. You gave me the time for pickup. Finally after getting the attention of the girl bringing out another dog, she brought mine out quickly. She was very friendly. Just a suggestion to maybe cross train other employees to help with busy times.
I understand more often than not, people post on yelp out of frustration, hurt, and anger. I also understand when we are in contact with our respective vets ... it's not always for a healthy pet check-up. BUT As Someone who has been a part of the animal med world for years it's, I feel it's important to lift each other up during challenging times such as COVID, as well as during changes in management. I have a dachshund and as many people know they are prone to back injuries which can be fatal in nature. When my pup started acting strange (refusing to eat, yelping when I would attempt to touch him, hiding in dark corners of the house) I scheduled an appointment with ABC immediately. I've been coming to ABC San Marcos for YEARS so this is long overdue. I live out in El Cajon and they are the only ones I trust with my fur babies. Doctor Wandrey, Meyers and Kaplan are actual angels and treat my babies like their babies. The entire team is extremely compassionate, patient and so caring. COVID has been tough on everyone but I really appreciate all the safety protocols they put in place to keep me, their staff and my babies safe. We had a very difficult 2 weeks in regards to our 3 dogs . 3 surgeries in 2 weeks ! One was an emergency surgery because my dog had several foxtails embedded in his tonsils (ouch!) , the other one pulled part of her TPLO incision apart and the other one had TPLO surgery. Thank goodness Dr. Neichin was able to do 2 surgeries the same day and then restitch the female's incision the next day. This afternoon my beagle Murphy somehow managed to lose a fight with a cactus. He had 3 quills stuck above his front paws. He wasn't allowing me to remove them. I called ABC and they said bring him over now. They assured me he would be assessed upon arrival and if he was stable then Dr Kaplan would see him as soon as she finished what ever she was doing. I started coming here for our reptiles and Dr. Martin is wonderful. He always seems to enjoy talking about our care and praises the condition of my animals. He's incredibly gentle and has wonderful bedside manner. I have had to bring a few rescue reptiles in and he was always very gentle when explaining the not-so-good prognosis. He's also even squat down to be at our eye level, which helps the experience feel more personal and like he really cares about connecting with you and your pet. Can't say enough great things about ABC vet hospital. I just recently moved my 1 year old pup here to be a permanent patient instead of her other vet that I could never get into. ABC Vet is SO responsive, reassuring, and caring. They always get my little pup in same day if she needs it, their assessments are quality, and their price is fair. I even got a call back late at night about a question I had emailed in the same morning. I feel grateful to have found ABC vet and recommend you go if you are in the San Marcos area.
