This place deserves 10 stars!! My mother, father and I looked at senior living places all over the Bay Area and Contra Costa County and we chose Aegis in Moraga because it has everything! They have one bedroom and studio apartments that have beautiful outlooks, gas fireplace, spacious rooms, large bathrooms, kitchenettes, and lovely archways in between the kitchen and living rooms. This is my 2nd experience with Aegis Living. My father lived in Aegis of Aptos, and my family and I were extremely happy with the care he received there. When my father-in-law in the East Bay was moving to assisted living, I strongly recommended Aegis in Moraga. He moved there recently and they have not let me down! Molly the director of Aegis of Moraga went above & beyond her job description! After our father has spent sometime in & out of the hospital, Molly reached out to us to come & visit Andy because she missed his positive energy & genuine kindness around Aegis. Molly suggested we meet with the social worker at the hospital to help Andy get comfortable. After meeting with social worker our father was placed into hospice. Most assisted living communities talk about the quality of the care that they provide and their emphasis on the quality of life of their members. I believe few consistently provide this as their highest value. A family member moved to Aegis in Moraga just before COVID and the subsequent lockdown of the facility. We found the service from every member of the staff to be consistent, professional and, most importantly, caring from the very first day until the last.

This will be my last update, as my mom passed away about 10 days ago in the memory care unit of Aegis. Crazy that its been 2 1/2 years since my parents moved into Aegis in March of 2019. My dad passed away in November of 2019, and my mom was moved into memory care about a year ago. As it was during the pandemic, the staff at Aegis did all the work moving my mom into her new room; hanging her pictures and photographs, arranging her clothes, etc, that made things much easier for me. My folks moved to Aegis when Dad was dying of pancreatic cancer, and Mom had Alzheimer's. They enjoyed the many activities there, and I liked spending time with them in the courtyard when I would visit. The "cafe" is a nice touch, and it's no wonder my mom often confused it with being in a hotel. Though underused by the residents, the library was another space we enjoyed when the weather didn't permit outdoor lounging. The staff there is great. My mom has lived at Aegis for two years. I haven't seen her happier in the last two decades. She loves the staff, the residents, and the daily activities. She's been able to build meaningful relationships and always has something to look forward to. Bill, Molly, and others have also helped my sister and me as we navigate this uncharted water with our mom.

We recently moved my mom here and the experience was supportive and professional. The staff have been very welcoming and working with Molly has been a great experience. We have appreciated how much they helped make the move in manageable and welcoming. Their Covid protocols have been excellent and we have been very pleased with the move.

I cannot say enough about Aegis of Moraga. My mother has lived there, in memory care, for over three years. Before that my mother-in-law lived there for 1.5 years before her death in 2016. The staff has been uniformly kind, warm and attentive. COVID has been hard on everyone, and it is particularly hard for those who work and live in assisted living communities, but everyone at Aegis has handled this time with incredible skill, caution and grace.
