My mother, who recently passed away, was a resident of Aegis Moraga for almost 2 years. I wanted to say we had a great experience there. She was formerly at Atria in Walnut Creek (near Rossmoor) and we moved her to Aegis primarily to be closer to us, but it turned out to be a better fit. Atria is really spread out and it was a long walk for staff to her apartment, so we felt they were not checking on her as much as we would like. My dad was a resident of Aegis for almost three years. He had a studio in its Memory Care unit. We supplemented his time there with a daily companion so he could get out and about. It worked really well for him. Aegis had many activities designed for independent living residents as well as for those with Alzheimer's. What I especially appreciated was that my dad was encouraged to attend whatever activity he would enjoy, though admittedly for the last year he chose to stay within Brown Court. We moved Mom from Iowa to Aegis of Moraga last year and quickly realized we had made an outstanding choice. Right away, we loved the facility, beautiful courtyard and activities. Candice and Molly made the paperwork and move-in process easy, and each staff member who came in contact with Mom was extremely caring and proficient. I was also impressed with the dining experience. My father has been in memory care at Aegis Moraga for over three months now, and after many visits to Aegis by our family, we remain as thrilled with his new home as we were when we chose it, after touring multiple in the area. Though my dad is consistently confused about where he is, he is just as consistent in telling us he loves it there, how clean everything is, how nice the staff is, and how he likes the food. I can't say enough positive things about the level of care at Aegis of Moraga - The staff and caregivers are awesome! My father-in-law is in the Memory care area and the friendly staff is there 24 hours a day 7 days a week to help with his many changing and challenging needs. He has been a resident for 8 months and the more time (4 + times per week) I spend in the facility the more I appreciate how much patience and kindness it takes to care for the residents. I sentiment the recent positive comments of John S. We moved my father-in-law into Aegis last October. It was a sudden and unsettling move for him and the staff at Aegis could not have been more helpful with all of the adjustments needed. As others have mentioned, moving into assisted living/memory care can be a very difficult decision/transition for both the patient and the family and it is not a "one size fits all" solution. My dad lived at Aegis-Moraga for three years. I am so grateful to the staff for helping him adjust to assisted living and make the most of the comfortable and friendly environment. Dad took part in many activities, loved the food, and received the attention he needed to deal with increasingly challenging medical conditions. When my father's medical conditions worsened and he needed more care than we could provide at home we needed to find a place close by where he could get the attention he needed but still be in a home like setting.
