Since I don't normally do reviews, I read several of the previous reviews to determine if my input would be worthwhile. I don't like wasting anyone's time, nor do I appreciate slanted opinions offered by people who are never satisfied. UPDATE: (8.23.2019) Another citation issued to Aegis Assisted Living of Moraga. https://secure.dss.ca.gov/CareFacilitySearch/FacDetail/075601424 This requirement was not met as evidenced by Licensee/Administrator failed to ensure the above when S1 was found through investigation to have improperly physically restrained R1 which poses an immediate risk to the health and safety and/or personal rights of residents in care. In response to Tom Laborde: That sounds great and seems to be the standard marketing spiel but, at least at Moraga Aegis, that is not the reality. The staff that work directly with the residents don't seem to have much training or experience at all. I have yet to hear any specifics on the behavioral/dementia training these individuals have. I am sorry for your experience. For the past 22 years, we have worked to ensure that the service provided to our residents is of the highest quality. I regret that isn't what you found. Dementia is obviously a terrible disease which affects about 14% of people over the age of 71, and incidences increase dramatically with age. My family member was at Aegis Moraga living in assisted living for about 10 months in 2015 until we moved them to a well regarded Board and Care home. When we signed on at Aegis, the move-in fees were significant, and they may be higher now. You don't get much for the money. The facility looks good and is well maintained. I believe it is important to CAUTION family members who are looking for assisted living services provided not only by Aegis, but any FOR PROFIT assisted living facility. My family placed a parent in Aegis of Moraga with the goal of having our parent age in place. Aegis is not prepared to balance its PROFIT with adequate staffing to ensure an aging client receives appropriate care. I encourage all family members to know the regulations (California Title 22) governing RCFE (residential care for the elderly) and their rights.
